So i was wondering how Toby Fox was able to use Mega Man X instruments so perfectly without shitty noises in the soundtrack, he basically uses Audio Samples instead of the Soundfont file with the audios merged together. A stupid discovery for me, but this is going to help me.

With the audios samples you can basically customize the sample better than depending on a soundfont file with limited customization. Idk why it took me months to get it lol

Or he probably uses older version of soundfont player which uses different audio filtering

Yeah, luckily someone made SFLT for modern fl users, which basically gave you more freedom on how it'd sound and you can make it sound the same as old soundfont player if you change the audio interpolation into linear

I tried this one, it sounds almost like this but not good enough for some reason (I use SFLT to save some few bad soundfonts lmfao now)

No, Toby used the MMX3 sample pack for this track, not the MMXsf recordings. (He does use MMXsf in other tracks.) For some reason, he only used the MMX3 pack here… He used the MMX2 pack a lot back then, and it even has some of the same sounds

Guitar used here is from MMX2, it sounds pretty much the same for MMX3

Some friends told me that my soundfont player can be the reason this soundfont sounds bad, that can be the reason I tried other one that is made for snes audio chips and it still sounds bad

Idk if itd fix the same problem, but theres also plugin by plogue called chipsynth SFC which emulates the snes soundchip. Chuck in the MMX instrument files and id imagine itd be a lot cleaner than the soundfont

guitar lead is different cuz in the past he used X2 guitar a bunch and mixed it with the famous X1 sometimes

Kinda, i use fl studio 21 its been 5 years.. I think the soundfont player can be reason that it sounds different, but im unsure about the quality

yea........ after FL 20.8 they kinda fucked up the soundfont player so things like these happen... If you don't want to use an earlier version you can always use SFLT to load your soundfonts, it's much better

@PedroManX89 Toby recently upgraded to FL 21, according to file metadata

@PedroManX89 he did, for certain songs, but if i'm not mistaken Running Sky was made wayy before he upgraded

toby uses older fl versions where the sfplayer isnt messed up. your best bet is using either fl10 or fl12 for the most accuracy gulp
