Idk about yall but it sounds like a classism issue to me . I think Cubans cling to republican because in their minds that’s the upper class , the rich , the best of the best. And the democrats are the opposite. Because why else would you vote against your own agency (Latin community) , unless you like the benefits that come along with it . But even then , that is less than smart because we just learned Cuban history on this video and the differences in the culture . But if Cubans think that Trump wouldn’t send their families back if given the opportunity but won’t , only because of money is just crazy talk . He probably think they are all the same culture aka immigrants. I could get deeper but imma stop right here .

So Cuban’s are taught that Democrats are socialist like the Government they are fleeing. Yet they take advantage of all the social programs after they become citizens.. sounds like a Republican to me.

He’s being nice he’s a very thoughtful young man and he’s right about the fear piece to a degree but there is more that does lump many Latinos into the monolith and I say this as a Colombian American born here but with grandparents and one parent born there that came from money and moved here with privilege gained permanent residency similar to what he’s talking about in the 60s. This is what it boils down to for Cubans and many others Colombians fit here especially…..MANY Latinos are racist AS F. And they are CATHOLIC AS F. You put those two things together and they are perfect for this version of The Republican Party. Latinos can look as brown as brown gets and they’ll still call another Latino a racist slur depending on what country or part of the country they’re from. And if you are Latino you know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s the dirty secret we all know about. Our grandparents were racist as all hell and they didn’t even know any better. Im proud my parents didn’t raise me like that.

I'll take this a step further. I'm Dominican, have lived in Miami and still have family/friends there. Even non cuban Latinos in FL who "make it" adopt that mentality. It's like a contagious virus. And I've seen non cuban Latinos sucking up to the Cubans. It's one of my least favorite things about Miami.
