So Deepavalli is one of the few times some of them will get the opportunity to be engaged economically. From kolam makers to dancers and urumi melam performers, these are opportunities often excluded for them. My favourite this year has been Liberty Insurance urumi melam truck

It's actually funny that so many artists that scream about liberal inclusivity here are part of events and exhibitions that don't include Malaysian Indian artists. Even entertainment/ magazines don't include us. Tatler took decades to put 2 Indian gals on their cover in 2022

Excluding us in public private events, media, opportunities is economically detrimental to Malaysian Indian artists. This is why most started looking out of Malaysia for opportunities. Systemic discrimination isn't limited to the govt in Malaysia. You are part of it too.

Not sure if because of social or that Indian culture seems to be sidelined all these years. Feels nice to see Malaysians coming together to highlight culture outside of merdeka, Malaysia day or tv programmes
