Sohan, a Class 12 student, was travelling by bus to visit relatives when it was abruptly stopped near Malhargarh (MP). A few men, later identified as cops, boarded the bus and dragged him off in full public view. There was no explanation, no warrant, and no prior FIR. He... was picked up merely on suspicion of carrying drugs, despite being arrested completely empty-handed. When the police realised no drugs had been recovered, they chose not to let their “seamless operation” go to waste. They planted 2.7 kg of opium, said to be seized in another case, on Sohan, registered an FIR showing recovery from him, and told the media they had busted a major narcotics syndicate. He was then produced in court and sent to jail. What they failed to anticipate was that the bus had CCTV, which clearly showed Sohan being taken away empty-handed, pointing to planted evidence. When the video went viral, the police initially denied that the men were cops, only worsening their position. The case reached the High Court, which summoned the SP. The SP admitted that Malhargarh police acted illegally and outside the law, apologised, and ordered a departmental inquiry against the officers involved. Sohan was released after two months of illegal detention. Ironically, Malhargarh police station had been awarded as one of the best in the country by the Home Minister. If this is how the “best” station works, one can only imagine the rest. It is frightening how easily the police can ruin a life in this country. A 42-year-old man, against whom a video alleging misbehaviour with a woman passenger on a bus had surfaced on social media, was found hanging dead at his residence on Sunday, police said. The deceased was identified as Deepak U, a native of #Puthiyara, who was residing at #Govindhapuram, #Kozhikode. According to police, around 7 am, Deepak’s parents knocked on the bedroom door to wake him up, but there was no response despite repeated attempts. They later entered the room with the help of neighbours and found him hanging from a ceiling fan, police said. The police were immediately informed and, upon reaching the house, confirmed the death. Relatives said Deepak was employed at a textile firm and had travelled to #Kannur on Friday in connection with his work. On the same day, a woman passenger travelling on the bus in which Deepak was seated had recorded a video alleging that he misbehaved with her, a relative told reporters. The video was widely circulated on social media and had come to Deepak’s notice, police said. According to relatives, Deepak denied the allegation and had been under severe mental distress since the video surfaced. The medical college police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation. Police said a preliminary inquiry indicated it was a suspected case of suicide, and the probe would also examine the circumstances surrounding the circulation of the video.

When the police failed to address the family’s complaint, enraged villagers gathered outside the residence of Alwar SP (Rural), demanding justice and staging a demonstration to protest the alleged brutality. “When I was sleeping on the cot with my infant daughter, the policemen arrived all of a sudden, pulled me out, and sent me out of the room. They also pulled my husband out. They stepped on my infant daughter’s head and killed her. This is murder, and I want justice,” Razida Khan, mother of the deceased infant, told to media. During the search, officers seized 29 packets of ganja weighing a total of 10 grams and six syringes from the premises. Police said women present in the house initially objected to the search and attempted to prevent officers from carrying out the raid. After Nandakumar was arrested and police attempted to take him into custody, his mother and other female relatives assaulted the officers. According to police, the officers used force to protect themselves and bring the situation under control. A video showing the confrontation between police personnel and the family members subsequently went viral on social media platforms. Nandakumar was taken to the Basin Bridge Police Station, where a case was registered against him under relevant provisions relating to possession of narcotic substances. He was inquired further. In a related development, Nandakumar’s mother, Meena, went to the police station and demanded her son’s release. Police said she injured her wrist with a razor blade during the protest and argued with officers inside the station premises. She was later sent away after intervention by police personnel. The Basin Bridge police registered a separate case against Nandakumar’s relatives for obstructing and assaulting police personnel during the raid.

A man is urgently seeking public assistance to apprehend two fraudsters who scammed him of GH¢28,000 at the Legon Police Station in the Greater Accra Region. According to details the victim shared with ASK, one of the fraudsters posed as an agent, while the other, dressed in a wine-colored outfit, pretended to be the landlord. After negotiations, the supposed landlord called the victim and asked him to meet at the Legon Police Station to sign the rental contract. He claimed his car had been involved in an accident and that he was at the MTTD handling the matter. The victim went to the station, signed the documents, paid the full amount, and was handed the keys to the non-existent apartment in Dansoman. He later discovered that the Dansoman property he had been handed the keys to was not owned by the self-proclaimed landlord and that he had been scammed. All efforts to apprehend the fraudsters have been unsuccessful. He is now appealing to the public for help in identifying and arresting the two men.

The bullies accused the victim of asking the women of the village to talk him and also distributed his mobile number to the women of the village. The inhumane punishment video is going viral on social media and it can be seen in the video that the old man is being tied with a rope and paraded in the entire village. The miscreants are also seen thrashing the elderly man in the video. It can be also seen in the video that the elderly man is made to sit on the ground and asked to spit and lick it. Lady publicly cries out for help over her brother who has been missing for the past three weeks in Enugu, alleging that despite reaching out to the company he worked for, she has received no tangible feedback. According to her, her brother worked as a security guard with St. Christopher Security Agency in Enugu and had been missing since the 7th of this month. She said she traveled from Abuja to Enugu to meet the company, where she was told that they had reported the case to the police two days after he went missing, on the 9th. She explained that the police requested his photograph, which she immediately sent to the company. However, when she personally visited the police station to make a report, officers allegedly told her that the company never returned with the picture they requested and had not been actively following up on the case. She also claimed that after the police made an arrest, the statement from the person arrested was completely different from the information she was initially given.

$There is no Law in this country to give Justice to an Adult Male Victim of Rape or Molestation and that's why two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) and a Home Guard of Kurukshetra Police Gang Raped a MAN battling bone cancer inside Ladwa police station of Haryana’s Kurukshetra district after taking him in illegal custody while he was going home from work. The victim, a resident of Bangaon village in Kurukshetra, works in the loan section of HDFC Bank in Kurukshetra and currently undergoing chemotherapy for bone cancer in his left leg. He was stopped by a Home Guard during routine check while he was returning home on his motorcycle and after that a Dial-112 team arrived at the spot in a vehicle without a number plate. Later one of the drunk ASI of the Dial 112 slapped him, snatched his mobile and then he was forcibly taken to the Ladwa police station where his motorcycle was impounded. The victim alleged that after some time he was taken to room number four inside the police station where he was beaten up and then two ASIs and one home guard forced him to undress and took turns to rape him multiple times. The Man alleged that after seeing that his legs having no hair due to chemotherapy they said, “iski jaanghon par to bilkul bhi bal nahin han, ladkiyon se bhi jyada chikna hai yeh to". The Man was later released after being gang raped for hours inside the Police Station and was subsequently handed over to his family, who were summoned to the station. Next morning, while bathing, the victim noticed he was bleeding. initially he did not tell this to anyone because of shame and fear but later he shared the entire incident with his family after his condition started deteriorating. He is currently being treated at LNJP Hospital in Kurukshetra and Doctors confirmed that the Man has a fracture on one leg and he was sexually assaulted. The Man alleged that one of the policemen was from Karnal, someone he already knew, and had previously demanded money from him, which he had refused to pay and may be that was one of the reason behind the torture and rape he faced at the Police Station. On 20 March 2025, Kashmiri youth Naeem Muzaffar was forcibly disappeared from his home in Sector G-10/2, Islamabad. The abduction has been recorded on CCTV footage, which shows use of a police vehicle as well and abductors in black elite force uniform. Despite almost two months having passed since Naeem was forcibly disappeared, Police Station Ramna refused to lodge the FIR for abduction. Yesterday, the police brazenly lied before the High Court stating that the family had never approached the police station for registration of FIR when in reality an officer named Niaz at PS Ramna had told the family it was better to remain silent (each time they approached the PS and handed in applications for the FIR). Despite the IHC directing police to lodge the FIR yesterday, when the family went once again to Ramna Police Station, they were being forced to remove the word “black uniforms” from their application and insert “black tracksuits” instead despite clear CCTV footage. Naeem’s family refused to change the application and despite officials at PS Ramna assuring that FIR would be lodged and shared, the same is yet to be seen. The police have already wasted time that is crucial in any such investigation - the initial tracing and evidence collection. But that is by design in all cases of enforced disappearances - families are meant to run from pillar to post without any relief in sight and the general public is meant to see that frustration and despair. It is meant to scare everyone into silence and compliance. Yesterday, Naeem’s mother was telling me how her husband (an otherwise lively and generally happy man) has been a victim of severe depression since his son’s enforced disappearances - he has been afflicted with various illnesses ever since. A State that does this to families as a form of collective punishment is not a “hard State” - it is a cruel and intolerable State that has to be dismantled from top to bottom. Today, it is Naeem. #WATCH | Delhi: On a dog crushed by a car in Jagatpuri, DCP Shahdra Rajender Prasad Meena says, "On the night of 18th June, a call was received that a dog had met with an accident in the Jagatpuri police station area. So the local police went to the spot and found that the dog was in a serious condition due to the accident. It was immediately shifted to a veterinary hospital, where it was declared dead. On local inquiry and on the statements of the eyewitnesses, a case was registered. The case was registered under section 325 of BNS, and later the accused Saif Hussain Naqvi was rounded up, and further investigation is going on in this case. The vehicle has been seized."

Per the family, the police didn’t take their abduction complaint seriously and told them that the girl was an adult and may have left of her own will, though a complaint was registered. #MamataMustResign It seems that West Bengal Police haven't learned anything from the unfortunate RG Kar incident when a 31-year-old PGT Doctor was found raped and murdered. An eight year old Class IV student of Mahishmari area in Joynagar; South 24-Parganas district, who was on her way to tuition class was missing since yesterday afternoon. The family members along with some some neighbours went to the Police Camp to report the On Duty Police personnels. Rather than responding quickly, the said Police personnels seemed uninterested and were trying to sidetrack from their responsibility. Later on the villagers themselves launched a search operation for the missing child and found the child’s body at dawn from a pond at Mahishmari. Had the Police been active, the child could have been rescued alive, but unfortunately the child paid with her life because the Police were reluctant to perform their duty. The angry villagers thereafter set ablaze the Police Camp in frustration. Their anger is justified as they feel that the child was raped before murder. If the Police who were in the Camp showed some empathy and tried to find the girl yesterday, the girl could have been saved and the same villagers would have garlanded them in appreciation. Later on the villagers marched towards the Police Station where a scuffle broke out between the villagers and the cops. The Police have arrested one suspect but it was not enough to calm the irritated villagers who laid siege near police station this morning, hours after the body was found. The whole situation could have been avoided if the Police could have just done their duty yesterday. The State Govt, Administration, Top Cops are always paying lip service how the State is safe for women and how CCTVs are being installed and preparedness is being increased to enhance women safety, but in reality no one is monitoring the CCTVs when it is actually required in real time and the Police are just planning how to suppress any spontaneous protest with brute force.
