Today we celebrate the 27th anniversary of Silent Hill🌫️ A game that defined a new approach to psychological horror, blending supernatural terror and dark fantasy, with a diverse cast of characters—each carrying their own story while trapped in Alessa Gillespie’s nightmare. Its remake has already been in development for some time, and it’s expected that it may be released by—or even before—its 30th anniversary as a major celebration of the game that started it all for the franchise. #silenthill

Doctor Who season 24 (1987). New titles, new Doctor, but still the same problem: a lack of BBC confidence in the show. BBC TV continuity focuses on the galaxy of stars here, and less on the Doctor for some unknown reason. The Doctor visits a tower block, goes to Butlin's and gets to meet Tony Selby and Kate O'Mara again in season 24. We also see Sylvester McCoy move the Doctor from lighthearted jester to a more mysterious, even cunning figure. Time has been kinder to this season then reviewers were at the time; there is some interesting stuff lurking in the stories and a sense the show is moving onto a new track, if the Beeb will give it the time and budget to do so...

#WATCH | Jaipur, Rajasthan: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says, "The development of Kavach started in 2016 and till 2019 there was a lot of development, certification, even after that many improvements were made, new versions were brought and on 16 August, version 4.0 was approved and its first installation has been done between Sawai Madhopur to Kota... Testing has been done, today was the inspection... If the train is approaching a red signal and the driver is not paying attention, then Kavach will automatically apply the brakes... This has brought a huge improvement in the safety of railways."

This last year and a half has been quite a challenging and equally awesome time. I’ve faced a lot of backlash for what I sing about, which in some ways has set me back, but in many other ways has opened incredible new doors. I had no idea there were so many of us who felt the same way. We’re fed up with much of what’s going on in the world. The systems that don’t serve us but pretend to. The institutions that rob us and keep us dependent. But what has been so beautiful is discovering how many of us feel this together and genuinely want to create a future that uplifts and serves humanity, and each other. There are so many people working for good, working for the light. I hope the music and art I make can contribute to that in a great way. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for having my back. I have yours too.

Some migrants were lied to either at the borders or by their own government, promising them the world when they get here. The reality is NYC has run out of room and money due to the migrant crisis, this is not fair to the migrants or the community's they are being housed in

Panzer General (SSI, 1994) didn't quite have the massive manual that some MicroProse strategy games had - this one had "only" around 60 pages - but one of the biggest appeals was its simplified design and interface compared to earlier SSI titles, which were rooted in complex war/strategy simulations, appealing to a smaller niche of players. Panzer General's structure was much simpler compared to SSI's traditional deep, simulation-heavy titles like those from Gary Grigsby (such as Panzer Strike, Battlegroup or Typhoon of Steel), but this move opened up their games to a more mainstream audience - and ultimately making Panzer General a commercial success. Sequels such as Fantasy General (1996) or Allied General (1995) were based on the same engine. I always liked turn-based strategy games (Battle Isle, Master of Orion, Civilization), so Panzer General was one of the many classics of the 90s, arguably the peak decade for such games.

Announced in 2020, it was planned as a realistic psychological horror experience inspired by real-life stories and research. The studio shared several technical updates, but the game never received gameplay footage or a release date. According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, Project: Mara was “just a concept” and is no longer in active development.

There were plans for Quake Champions to be transitioned into the hands of the community with a LAN client. Sync Error the sole developer on the team was laid off before this was a possibility. There was potential to free the game from the games as a service model that killed it, with modding and custom lobbies. Quake Champions has been left in limbo, it has no one updating the game or anticheat. I was told there wouldn't even be a LAN server for QuakeCon like there is every year. (There will be official tournaments there!) I know it failed on its introduction, it went through a long hard development process but it eventually became great, and never was given a second chance. This was my first Quake game and it will always be special to me. Please save Quake Champions. This is heart breaking Stop Killing Games Official

A differently-abled man is forced to ride his tricycle on the very edge of the footpath because it has been completely encroached upon by local vendors. While trying to squeeze through the narrow space, he loses balance and falls. This is the reality in India. Even footpaths are not safe or accessible for the people who actually need them the most. Encroachment everywhere, zero enforcement, and complete neglect of basic civic responsibility. A country that cannot even keep its footpaths clear for a differently-abled person should seriously question its claims of development. Sometimes it feels like nothing will ever change in this third-world chaos.

Imagine having two titles in your portfolio that are dubbed the "grandfather" and "father" of FPS games. And to then go full circle and end it with yet another iconic hit. id Software brought us Wolfenstein 3D (1992), the grandfather of FPS games. Then followed it up only a year later in 1993 with Doom, widely considered the father of all modern FPS games, due to its massive popularity, multiplayer deathmatch, and modding community - and defining the genre's mainstream popularity to this day. And if that wasn't enough, they gave us Quake in 1996. If there was ever a studio to not just create a genre but then to also dominate it for years and years, the vote would have to go to id Software, no? Sierra for adventures. MicroProse for simulations. id Software for FPS. Blizzard (or Westwood?) for RTS.
