Thought you might find his interesting…..we see many great players “falling left” as they approach the top with an iron. The body stays turned and shifts left then puts the brakes on by rotating and extending at impact. This helps pressure in the ground and get shaft lean at impact. All good things. Slightly different with driver as you wanna keep the upper body back more to hit up on it.

One of the best “classic” swing styles you’ll ever see. Geometry, sync and efficiency are pretty perfect. Many of my ideals in it. None of this contrived, complicated match-up stuff that many are throwing into the game. Club works up simply (not too much arm depth), lead wrist slightly flexed, trail side and arm plane shallow in transition, body opens and sidebends at impact. All in a second with very little thought. Stunning and a joy to watch and study. So much great footage coming to my Youtube on this.

Understanding the body/swing connection is vital if you want to improve your tendencies. If your body isn’t capable of moving correctly, then you’ve no chance in your swing is the logic. Here’s a great couple of exercises for standing up or early extending in your swing from @jenniferfleischer Give her a follow as she has some quality stuff to help your issues. Coached this kid for many years and he now lives back in Korea. Love his swing, such great fluidity and tempo. It’s a great example also of the arms never getting stuck and how the club “releases” and is almost thrown in a different way to an iron. The shaft raises and club exits higher, the club freewheels more 👌🏼

Rose Zhang is like a machine off the tee and one of the best drivers, male or female. What can we learn? 1. Long, wound and rhythmic backswing. 2.Rotation of forearm and wrist in transition to ultra-shallow it 3. Sidebend and rotation at impact with path going up and to the right. Note: hips get a little too spun and recoil later which actually helps torque in her case but not a part to copy. Great action overall. Vid LKD

Love this from Women’s US Open Champion Maja Stark at this weeks first major The Chevron as shot by Beth Ann Nichols ⛳️🙌 Bands are perfect for pre-round or pre-range session warmups and I recommend getting a couple and keeping them in your golf bag👌 Some great moves here working on pushing, pulling, lower body stability, freedom through the trunk and just look at the intent on those last few reps too 🔥 This kind of stuff is simple, easy to do and doesn’t take up much time yet it is still something the vast majority of golfers don’t take advantage of 😩

Young Rory compared to old is fascinating. As a young wiry kid he had amazing fluidity and range of motion which slotted that club in beautifully at the top all day long. Like Woods, Faldo, Duval, DeChambeau and many others, their pursuit of more power sees them bulking up and changing body composition. Bigger biceps, bigger chest, stronger legs, bigger back etc. But there is a balance between brute strength and range of motion/elasticity. It is fascinating to see how his swing has changed and how much work he puts into trying to get it back to his younger version by folding the trail arm and getting it more infront with less hand depth. He’s still incredible obviously but the lesson might be to keep the range of motion as you become “golf strong”. It’s a tough sport to train for to keep that balance. Here’s another key move that’s not highlighted much, but is something I see elite ball strikers do and most poor hitters do not do. “Going back down the slope” we call it. You can do the drill with the club right in front of your body to allow you to see what is happening. You see the pros shallow the club into the perfect slot, and hit one great shot after another. So why is it that most players can't seem to stop coming over the top? They'll steepen the club to start the downswing, and lose tons of distance and consistency. Most of this comes from confusion of exactly what you should be doing with your hands and arms to shallow the club. It can be hard to know for sure, since you can't even see the club at the top of the swing. I am going to solve that problem with a very simple set of drills.

The throw starts in the ground. The feet create force. The stride organizes direction. The hips carry energy. The shoulders store and release torque. The arm stays relaxed enough to deliver the football instead of forcing the football. If the quarterback strides with his head in front of his chest, power leaks. If the front shoulder flies open, direction leaks. If the lead arm pulls across the body, the vector changes and the ball starts to spray. The mechanical standard is simple: Stride. Torque. Throw.
