Some people just can’t have nice things. Were they ready for this tiny home? Obviously not. This is why ‘housing first’ does not work. I do support shelter first and housing later if and when they agreed to work on becoming self-sufficient.

In 2021 Glenveagh were as good as gifted the public land at Oscar Traynor Woods. Today, their profits are up 103%, for every unit they deliver €50,000 is pure profit while their ‘affordable housing’ isn’t affordable and their building standards have resulted in work having to be halted! The private market does not have the capacity or the interest to provide genuinely affordable housing, this is why we need to break with them and end our dependence on profit-driven developers. A state construction company can build genuinely affordable housing because first and foremost it exists to house people, not to make a profit off of peoples housing insecurity. That’s the difference. In 2025 we need a bold and radical housing movement to fight back against the governments failed housing model. There are alternatives. There are solutions. Join PBP and help us build the fight for a future that puts people before profit!

Big thanks to the Opposition for their latest housing video, we genuinely appreciate the free voiceover. They tried to discredit the government’s efforts, but ended up narrating our housing achievements perfectly. So we helped them out, we added the visuals of what’s actually happening. Social housing being delivered. New communities being built. Jamaicans receiving keys to their own homes, some for the very first time. So yes, thank you. Because exactly this is why we are investing in housing for all Jamaicans, not just talk, but action. For years, too many Jamaicans were left behind, stuck in board houses and informal settlements with no real support. We’re changing that. We’re restoring dignity, creating stability, and giving people something solid to call their own. So while they focus on the next gimmick, we’ll keep doing the real work. And if they keep providing the commentary, we’ll keep providing the receipts. They talk, we act. By the way, does anyone know which housing development the opposition leader was standing in front of when he made that video?

Until recently, it was illegal for more than 5 people to live together in San Francisco, if they weren't related by blood. You read that right! And while this byzantine law wasn't often enforced, San Franciscans like Josh and Lisa who wanted to set up co-ops and shared housing establishments were choosing not to for fear of non-compliance. That's why we passed the Shared Housing Reform Act earlier this year. So San Franciscans can choose to live with whom they want, where they want, and not fear being afoul of the law. Josh and Lisa have been able able to start work on a shared housing project in the Mission now that the Shared Housing Reform Act has passed. And we're excited to see the residents move in in the years ahead!
