@BBCDouglasF Damn - you were one of the few reasons for listening to GMS or Good Breakfast or whatever it's called. You actually seemed to know stuff. All best for the future.

@BBCDouglasF Hopefully you leaving the toxic Pacific Quay will change your attitude to the half (if not more now) of the country who support an independent Scotland. Some of your reports over the years have been shockingly biased against the SNP.

@BBCDouglasF On a personal note, fill yer boots. However, in respect of your output over many years, your partisan/anti-anything Scotland won't be missed. I'm sure some other little place holder will take your place but, what's more disappointing is that you do know better and still you lied.

@BBCDouglasF Best of luck Douglas, you’ve been a great colleague.

@BBCDouglasF I’m surprised you’ve stayed that long Douglas. A shallow organisation full of thin repeat stories broadcast all day long along with regurgitated stuff from FoIs. Misreporting, misrepresenting and omitting News stories stockmin trade now. Enjoy the fresh air and coffee.

@BBCDouglasF Wow, big news. That’s the BBC’s loss, Douglas, you’ve always epitomise what BBC journalism should be - calm, measured, balanced, accurate and enlightening. Good luck in whatever comes next - and as I’ve found, life outside/after the BBC can be wonderful!

@BBCDouglasF @kmacraeplockton Did you finally get sick of the anti-Scottish diatribes that pass for news at Pacific Quay?

A great broadcaster who always is ahead of the curve and reported from every area of Scotland when others left our communities unheard. Thank You Douglas for highlighting the Kilmarnock story and that out of the demise of Johnnie Walker exit (700 job losses) came the HALO story. Good Luck and I look forward to your continuing story. #KeepWalking .

Thanks very much for so many kind and generous responses.
@BBCDouglasF No idea why this is on my timeline. I have no respect for BBC Scotland but all the best for your 'retirement' in any event.

@BBCDouglasF A huge loss to the BBC. One of the warmest, kindest people I met in my work at Pacific Quay and a man whose stories I always found time to read and watch as they were always brilliantly told. Good luck with what you do next Douglas.

@BBCDouglasF You could no longer hold your nose as the stench was toxic.

@BBCDouglasF @ruth_wishart All the best Douglas The BBC in Scotland can’t be a great place to work if you are forever treading a fine line but overall I’ve found your reports informative & reasonably balanced even when I’ve sensed in interviews you’ve been pushed to say more than you think was the case

@BBCDouglasF They should show that video to insomniacs who don't respond to strong prescription sedatives.

@BBCDouglasF Good luck for whatever comes next Douglas.

@BBCDouglasF Big loss for the BBC and journalism in general, good luck for the future 👍🏻

@BBCDouglasF Your coverage of the Implications of Brexit to Scotland were atrocious...But I suppose that's just the BBC. 🤷♂️

@BBCDouglasF “Thank you for your attention to this matter” is a typically tongue in cheek quote from the #eejit over the water to finish your time at the Beeb Douglas! I’m intrigued - but patient - so will await your next digital epistle - and hope that our paths cross again my fine fella 🤔

@BBCDouglasF

@BBCDouglasF You were always one of the good guys, hope you stick around on Twitter . Orra best

@BBCDouglasF All the best Douglas

@BBCDouglasF Stopped watching BBC decades ago.

@BBCDouglasF #accidentalpartridge

@BBCDouglasF Ah this is sad news for us - it has always been a pleasure to have your insight. Excited to hear about the next chapter! Good luck!

@BBCDouglasF My best wishes to you. I'm guessing that your principles got in the way of your job. Or your employers.

@BBCDouglasF Tankless task being a journalist these days as people seem to want to believe what they hear from some random on social media than believe someone with years of dedication to certain subjects. Good luck with future projects @BBCDouglasF

@BBCDouglasF Wow, big news Douglas. You will be sorely missed. Wishing you the very best of luck.

@BBCDouglasF @ammacj I just hope you are well 😊

@BBCDouglasF Best of luck for what comes next, Douglas.

@BBCDouglasF Sorry to see you go, Douglas. Best of luck with whatever comes next.

@BBCDouglasF You’ll be missed. Good luck with whatever comes next.

@BBCDouglasF the clamour is unprecedented

@BBCDouglasF All the very best, Douglas. You have been epic!

@BBCDouglasF @rogerlwhite Always gave a fair and balanced review of the news… unlike some on the BBC . Will be missed

@BBCDouglasF Good luck Douglas. Brilliant journalist.
