As Georgia voters head to the polls for statewide runoff elections on Tuesday, Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) argued that the Supreme Court’s Voting Rights Act decision has enabled politicians to redraw districts in ways that allow them to "pick their voters rather than the voters picking" their representatives. "The Supreme Court did a lot of damage to our electoral system," Warnock told CBS News' Major Garrett. He later added, “The Supreme Court is moving us backwards. They are enabling Donald Trump and his partners in Congress to diminish the voices of the people who I think are well poised to hold them accountable.”

Rachel Maddow just pulled the mask clean off: Republicans don't want voters to pick them. They want to pick their voters. Republicans tried to rig it so ONE gerrymandered district could veto the ENTIRE STATE. And get this — if they had won that "yes" vote, it would've been even WORSE. YOUR citizen ballot measure would need to win all 8 rigged districts. But THEIR legislator-led measures? Still just a simple majority. They wanted to block the people while keeping the easy path for themselves. Democrats put it on the ballot and let the people decide — and they WIN every time. There's no clearer example of which party actually trusts democracy. They know the truth: when the people vote, Republicans LOSE. Gerrymandering is the only way they hold power.
