How can I know it's not a trojan horse?

Stirling PDF is free also and can do pretty much everything you need in a PDF editor. Not sure about the size though.

bentopdf already exists and isn’t vibe coded slop like this

"Someone built a free PDF editor that does everything Adobe does, in 20MB" Yet, in the very first setup screen...

RevPDF explained by its author, Pawandeep Singh, on YT:

We're entering the era where tiny native tools feel magical again

cool, but it is not Free. it is freemium.

J'ai fait mon propre editeur/converteur avec Codex en local il prend tout les format 😄

Just downloaded it. Tried it. Sent myself the pdf attachment and it works great. Thanks

I get by on Linux with LibreOffice Draw and pdftk.

@Grok How does RevPDF compare to PDFGear?

does this for me. I think it’s same like adobe pdf. All we want is no bloated tools that hangs the computer

@serumroth Best to frequent Free tools with good reputation known for their features and strong utility; everything else could be a trojan and must be considered carefully. DYOR!

“Everything adobe does” — absolutely no way this is true.

Never trust any software or anything else that uses em-dashes on its website !

Not open-source, not interested.

Adobe installation is 2GB? cannot remember, hated it so much.

It is neither completely free nor does it have 20 megabytes, due to two lies in the sentence, it should be assumed that the whole thing is free or actually an advertisement.

When something is free, you are the product.

Thank you for letting us know! It's a mystery why in the 2020s even an app that would let you do nothing other than add, delete, and rearrange pages can't be offered for free even though Adobe has long since released the PDF standards into the wild.

Does not OCR documents (ie: convert a scanned image to a searchable PDF) so of limited utility in a professional workflow. If it does OCR scanned documents and I have this incorrectly please let me know.

If it compresses better than PDF Squeezer, I’ll switch. I tried an earlier version & it seemed sufficient… may try again.

On Windows 11 it really takes up 250 MB so no go.

Google Docs was free too but didn’t make dent to MSFT - bec enterprise world can’t take chances on this free business! If you are hot dog stand then yes but once you more established and especially if you have any regulatory imperatives then for sure you can’t use this free stuff Not to mention Mac always had their free version on Mac’s for decades - and that is secure

Ads and monthly subscription fees keep me away from what might otherwise be good tools. With AI, the days of ads and fees in software is coming to an end. We are going back to the days when you pay one low price for software and own it forever. No forever subscription fees ..no irritating ads. Visit to see how we are helping to end the subscription and ad revenue models.

Is there some malicious virus in RevPDF... I find it hard to bliv it's COMPLETELY free?

No, it doesnt do everything Adobe does, stop BS

Convert to Word? Who would want to ever do that?

Adobe got greedy If they do not survive as a company, that’s on them.

Yeah...if you like watching ads while working on your PDFs.

Нечто подобное делал с помощью ChatGPT для локальной работы в браузере, что бы документы не улетали из сети. Надо допилить до состояния, когда не стыдно показать. В целом, RevPDF не впечатлил.

From Grok: Yes, RevPDF appears safe to run based on available evidence. It's a legitimate offline PDF editor developed by one person (Pawandeep Singh), and there's no indication of malware or scams associated with it. Why it's likely fine: Legitimate project: The site promotes a real, privacy-focused tool (fully offline, no cloud, no accounts). It's been discussed positively on Reddit (r/macapps, r/SideProject, etc.) as a lightweight alternative to bloated/subscription-based editors like Adobe Acrobat. The developer maintains a public GitHub repo for releases. Cross-platform availability: Mobile versions are on the official Google Play Store and Apple App Store with good privacy ratings (no data collection) and solid user reviews. Desktop is free. No red flags in searches: No reports of viruses, malware, or scams tied to General warnings about fake PDF editors exist, but they don't match this one. Unsigned executable is common: Many indie/small-developer apps aren't code-signed (especially on Windows). Windows Defender/SmartScreen often flags them as "unrecognized" for this reason—it's a precautionary warning, not proof of danger. Signed apps from big companies get more trust by default. Safety recommendations before running: Download only from official sources:Main site: GitHub releases: (recommended for transparency). Scan it yourself:Upload the .exe to right after downloading. Run a full scan with Windows Defender or another reputable antivirus. Run cautiously:Use Windows Sandbox (if available) or a virtual machine for the first run if you're extra paranoid. It claims to be ~30MB and fully offline—no internet needed after install, which aligns with the description. General best practice: Avoid running random unsigned .exes from shady sites. This one checks out as a genuine indie tool. If VirusTotal comes back clean and it behaves as expected (lightweight PDF editor), you should be good. Many users have been using it without issues. If you run into anything suspicious after installing, uninstall immediately and scan your system.
