I find open source to be an excellent approach. I've given it a try, but the user experience still needs improvement, and performance needs optimization. However, the interface UI is fantastic. I've also developed an online video editing tool (

solid project but it's still an editor. some of us just don't want to edit at all lol. skiddee makes the video from a script, no timeline involved
