But the "Atlanteans" still exist somewhere. One of them has a flying craft which crashes. They had a black cube. They tell a kid it's the key to saving humanity. Everyone wants the thing because it is programmable matter advanced tech. At one point it shows them that humanity was wiped out by an AI virus which stripped everything living down to particles which they called "Black December" and had no explanation for.
