The whole work setup now fits into a bag like a notepad with a stylus on top. Everything on the screen is for real: Claude Code v2.1.162 and bypass permissions on and Opus going off to think on max effort right on the e-ink. In my opinion this is the most unexpected home for an AI this year. Not a farm of graphics cards and not a wall of monitors but a quiet sheet of paper on a coffee table where the most powerful Claude writes code one word at a time like a pen.

How I have Claude automate anything I do on my computer just by showing it: I use the free Clips app and hit record to start recording. Then I just do the action - like navigating to Rippling and approving any unapproved time off - and I’ll often just talk out loud as I do it explaining any add’l details like I would when showing a human. The Clips app captures everything on your screen and everything you say, and transforms it into a format Claude can “see and hear”. You'll then get a link that you can easily share with Claude (or humans too). I’ll paste it to Claude and say something like, "automate this for me every day at 8:00 AM." The link has special metadata that agents like Claude can discover. It exposes APIs to see the full transcript with timestamps and grab screenshots of what was on your screen at any of those timestamps. Once it's created the routine, you can go to the Routines tab in Claude Code desktop app. This also works with the CLI, Claude Cowork, Codex etc. You’ll see your new routine there, and you can just hit Run Now to have it start running it. Video attached shows this step by step. The Clips apps is free and open source - I’ll link to it and the source code in the thread.

i watched gemma 4 12b build something genuinely impressive today, and then loop itself to death right in front of me. the full run is in the video, sped up but completely uncut, watch it to the end and you will catch the exact moment it stops building and starts looping right in the middle of the work. the task was clean, build a single file gravity simulator, n-body physics, orbits, collisions, running locally on one 3090 through an agent. and for ten minutes it was a joy to watch. it reached for a symplectic integrator on its own, the correct one, the kind that keeps orbits stable instead of spiralling out. real gravity with softening, proper orbital velocities, momentum conserved on collision. the physics was right. the thing actually worked. then on the very last step, writing a few tests to prove its own code, it fell into a loop. not a crash, a loop. it started repeating itself and would not stop. ten more minutes, thirty four thousand tokens into a single answer, the same fragments over and over, until i killed it myself. so it's not that gemma can't code. it did the hard part beautifully. it cannot finish. it cannot hold a long task together without unravelling, and finishing is the entire job in agentic work. here's the part that stings. i run this exact task, same harness, same card, on the chinese open models, qwen especially, and i never see this. they build it, they test it, they stop. every single time. google has the raw capability, you can see it sitting right there in the code, and then the model loops itself to death on a task a 27b from alibaba finishes clean. open weights, apache 2.0, so much to love on paper. i just need it to know when to stop talking.

I've become a missionary with one message. Every time I meet a young person, the same words: have children, get married, build a family. I did not decide on this calling. It overtook me. And it overtook me for a single reason. I had no idea. I genuinely did not understand how much joy, how much meaning, how much sheer beauty pours out of a child until I was holding one of my own and felt the floor of my life drop into something deeper than I knew was there. I grew up white, affluent, secular, comfortable, and insulated. That world does not put babies in front of you. None of my friends were starting families. Out of my whole circle, almost no one has a big one. We were not formed by the presence of children. We were formed by their absence, by the strange quiet of homes built for two careers and no cradle. And a person believes what his world shows him. So we believed. What we believed was a lie. It is a lie with an author, and that the author is the enemy of joy himself. It is the gospel of the world, and its commandment is wait. Wait until you are older. Wait until the career is built and the savings are stacked and the twenties are properly spent. Enjoy your freedom. You are not ready. It does not arrive sounding like temptation. It arrives sounding like wisdom, like prudence, like the responsible thing, and that is exactly why it works. The most effective lies are the ones that wear the face of virtue. And the maddening thing is that it collapses from every angle at once. It is not rooted in biology, because the body is made for this work precisely in the years we are told to postpone it. The flesh keeps a calendar the culture pretends not to see. And it is not rooted in theology either. You will not find this deferral anywhere in the Christian imagination, in any of the fathers, in any of the scriptures. So choose whatever lens you like. The Great Depression was a depression of bread, a scarcity in the world of matter, hunger you could measure. Ours is a depression of a different order. It is a famine of the spirit in the middle of abundance. We have more than any people who ever lived and we are starving in a way our ancestors would not recognize, because the thing we are refusing cannot be bought and cannot be banked. The ones most made to give and receive this love are quietly declining it. They are walking away from the one inheritance that actually compounds, and the cruelest part is that they do not feel the loss as loss. You cannot grieve what you were taught not to want. That is the deepest cut of it. The lie does not only steal the thing. It steals the capacity to know the thing was stolen. A man can spend his whole life on the far side of a door he never knew was a door, mistaking the wall for the edge of the world. Because this beauty is not ordinary beauty. It is not the pleasure of a good meal or a clear morning. It is participation in something that comes down from above, the same generative love that spoke everything out of nothing and called it good. To make a person, to be undone and remade by loving that person more than your own life, is to be drawn for a moment inside the very act that holds the cosmos together. A child does not merely add to your life. A child reorders the soul. It teaches you what you are by asking everything of you, and you discover, kneeling there exhausted at three in the morning, that you had a capacity for self gift you never suspected, a depth in yourself you had no other way to reach. In the Gospel of John, on the last night, Jesus prays, these things I have spoken to you that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. And I have come to understand why family is the road into that fullness, why it is not one path among many but the one most fitted to the shape of the promise. Consider who is praying. Christ does not come to us as a lone figure dropped out of the sky. He comes out of a family older than the world, the eternal communion of Father and Son, the love between them so total and so alive that theologians dared to call it a third person. Before there was anything, there was a family. The deepest fact about reality is not a force or a law or a void. It is a household. It is begetting and being begotten, giving and receiving, a Father who is only a Father because there is a Son. So when Jesus speaks of joy made complete, he is not pointing away from family toward something higher. He is pointing toward the very thing he came from, the life he has known from eternity and came to share. His joy is the joy of belonging utterly to a Father and pouring himself out for those he loves. When you marry, when you bring a child into the world, when you wear yourself down in the small unseen labors of a home, you are not stepping outside that divine life. You are stepping into a small image of it. Your family is a created echo of an uncreated one. The love you give your child rhymes with the love the Father has for the Son. The exhaustion, the tenderness, the way a parent would tear the sky open to protect a sleeping infant, all of it is the heavens pressed faintly into flesh, the eternal household leaving its fingerprint on yours. That is why the joy is not merely added to family but completed in it. We were made in the image of a God who is, at his very root, relation and gift and generation. To found a family is to do the most Godlike thing a creature can do, to participate from below in the begetting that God does from all eternity. Your home becomes a window. Through it, dimly and imperfectly, you glimpse the country you came from and are going to. And now a word for the young people reading this, the ones who do not yet have children. I want to tell you what it is like from where I stand. When I am out somewhere, a restaurant, anywhere, and a large family comes through the door, the noise and the chaos and the small bodies of them, something happens in me on two levels at once. The first is joy. A pure gladness at the sight, the way you feel watching something good and alive. But underneath it, almost in the same instant, a sadness reaches up and takes hold of my heart. Because I know now, at my age, after my own years of waiting, that I will never have that. I will never know the particular fruit of a family that large, the fullness of that table, the weight of all those lives gathered under one roof. The door to it has quietly closed, and I felt it close. And I am telling you plainly, because I love you and have no reason to lie to you: you will feel this too. You will. The day will come when you see what you passed up, and you will recognize the ache for what it is, and it will be too late to answer it. So please, learn from a man who got it wrong. Let my regret be worth something by becoming your wisdom. Do not wait yourself into a grief you cannot undo. Choose now, while the door is open, so that you may step into a joy that does not end.

I just compared Claude Code vs Codex vs Cursor CLI The task was to build a Next.js app with Tailwind 4 and shadcn components to collect customer feedback and showcase it with a widget. I gave all three the same prompt and let them go for 30 minutes to see what they came up with. Claude Code with Opus 4.1 Even though I told it to set up the app in the existing project folder, it tried to create a directory for it. After I interrupted and told it not to do that, it built a demo form and landing page with no errors. I had to ask it to make the demo interactive so users could submit a testimonial and preview it. The landing page looked like AI and was pretty basic, but it worked and it was done in a fraction of the time of the others. Total tokens used: 33k Codex with GPT-5 At the end of the 30 minutes I just could not get Codex to produce a working app. It got stuck in a loop of not being able to set up Tailwind 4 and despite many, MANY, attempts, I ended up with a "failed to compile" error. Total tokens used: 102k Cursor Agent with GPT-5 This was the slowest agent by far and a couple of times I actually thought it got stuck in a loop and was close to Ctrl+C'ing to cancel it. The TUI is really nice though, especially how it shows diffs and it did eventually build a working app (after one or two slight errors that needed fixing) The demo was interactive and it had a very minimal design that looked bare but also a lot less like an "AI generated" app than the Opus 4.1 design. It also wasn't too chatty and just did what it needed to do! Code quality was on a par with Opus 4.1, but it did use 5.5x as many tokens to get there. Still cheaper than Opus on a direct comparison but not when you factor in a Claude Code Max subscription. Total tokens: 188k I'll be able to do a proper comparison and record some videos when I'm back from holiday but for now, Opus is still the more capable model out of the box and Claude Code is the more complete CLI product. It will be interesting to see how Cursor evolve their CLI though with commands and subagents because I think with GPT-5 they have a real shot at providing competition for Claude Code if they can optimise output to get similar quality with less tokens. Someone just dropped a full walkthrough on building the most powerful second brain ever Andrej Karpathy shared a simple idea: use an LLM to build personal knowledge bases. Index your sources, let the model organize them, and use Obsidian as the front end. Someone just built the full thing with Claude Code and Fable 5, and walked through every step You drop your sources into a folder (YouTube transcripts, PDFs, articles, meeting notes) and Claude Code reads them, splits them into linked wiki pages, and builds a living second brain that connects everything. It grows on its own as you add more. Where Fable 5 pulls ahead: it found a connection buried across two sources you'd miss reading them separately. And asked to turn the messy web of links into something a beginner could understand, it produced clean, simple HTML in one shot. The same task took a full day on Opus 4.8 and came out worse. The best part: it's all just markdown files with routing. So it's not locked to Claude Code. Plug it into Codex or any agent you want. Ever since I wired Claude Code to WhatsApp 3 weeks ago, I built a stupidly large infra around it. I mean, opus built it. No clue how the code even looks. The entire thing was vibe coded using my phone. I wanted to see how far I could push it without touching the computer. Everything via WhatsApp. Build what I need on the fly. So the resulting infrastructure will already be battle tested for software development. The entire thing was streamlined with nearly no manual interventions, everything was communicated via WhatsApp using a single script establishing this connection. If the script is down, I need to get home to start it again to resume the development. Claude was upgrading it, debugging it, restarting it while maintaining constant uptime so it could keep communicating with me. I stressed Claude about it, telling it that it will be “in the dark” and other words that deliberately sound scary about losing communications if the script dies. I also refused git and refused cloning the code, I wanted to see Claude adapting to work on a *LIVING* system. The way this whole thing works: Claude has its own dedicated phone number that I am paying for. A real WhatsApp account for it is installed on a real iPhone that is sitting on my desk. All is registered under my name, this is legit setup with no hacks and tricks. I’ve set up a WhatsApp “Community” and multiple different groups under it. Both me and Claude are the admins, so Claude could edit it on my behalf. Each group is a project I am working on and has its own isolated context. The Group description is a system prompt that gets auto-appended to the larger system prompt explaining this setup in general. When I send a message it’s an instant interrupt to Claude Code’s process, just like in the terminal. Voice notes are seamlessly transcribed with a local Whisper model. Images are used with multimodal reading in an isolated parallel session. Multiple groups running in parallel so I can work on all projects at the same time. No cross-talking, everything has an isolated context and history. And because it’s local on my own machine: Everything is REAL. The browser is REAL. I am connected as myself on it to all services because I actually use it in real life. Claude has unlimited internet access, just like humans who use actual browsers. It utilizes custom-made browser tools that I made to control any browser session it wants. Depending on the situation, it can either connect to my existing session or create one for its own. (You can tell it ‘look at my browser for a sec’ then talk about the current page you are on and it just works, pretty cool) My custom browser tools are not perfect (not by a long shot) but I managed to make them work well to the point they are somewhat reliable. This gives Claude full access to my real creds and all the services I actually use. I’m productive AS HELL with this. It really feels like a personal assistant. I ask it to read my emails and msgs, check x .com for news, research arxiv papers, write code, run experiments for me, investigate and reverse engineer github repos, even use my credit card and order things. [I try not to do this one a lot lol so far no disasters]. All from my phone. Super convenient. This is not a product or an open source project (maybe soon of it will make sense). This is just an ugly script I hacked the entire thing is ~600 lines. (ok maybe i did look at the code, but i swear i didn’t edit!) You can also vibe code this from scratch pretty fast and it will probably even end up better. This is just a cool thing so I’m sharing. It is a real speed booster for many things I do on daily basis, mostly boring things. Forcing my routine into some new “agent platform” just didn’t feel right for me. WhatsApp is where I already communicate and look for messages, so I decided that my agents will live there too. AGI in my pocket 24/7.

Ever since I wired Claude Code to WhatsApp 3 weeks ago, I built a stupidly large infra around it. I mean, opus built it. No clue how the code even looks. The entire thing was vibe coded using my phone. I wanted to see how far I could push it without touching the computer. Everything via WhatsApp. Build what I need on the fly. So the resulting infrastructure will already be battle tested for software development. The entire thing was streamlined with nearly no manual interventions, everything was communicated via WhatsApp using a single script establishing this connection. If the script is down, I need to get home to start it again to resume the development. Claude was upgrading it, debugging it, restarting it while maintaining constant uptime so it could keep communicating with me. I stressed Claude about it, telling it that it will be “in the dark” and other words that deliberately sound scary about losing communications if the script dies. I also refused git and refused cloning the code, I wanted to see Claude adapting to work on a *LIVING* system. The way this whole thing works: Claude has its own dedicated phone number that I am paying for. A real WhatsApp account for it is installed on a real iPhone that is sitting on my desk. All is registered under my name, this is legit setup with no hacks and tricks. I’ve set up a WhatsApp “Community” and multiple different groups under it. Both me and Claude are the admins, so Claude could edit it on my behalf. Each group is a project I am working on and has its own isolated context. The Group description is a system prompt that gets auto-appended to the larger system prompt explaining this setup in general. When I send a message it’s an instant interrupt to Claude Code’s process, just like in the terminal. Voice notes are seamlessly transcribed with a local Whisper model. Images are used with multimodal reading in an isolated parallel session. Multiple groups running in parallel so I can work on all projects at the same time.
