Sometimes the most memorable television performances happen without any preparation. During an interview on TFI Friday, Mick Hucknall was challenged to sing "Angel" live with nothing more than a portable stereo providing the backing track, stripping away the full band and leaving nowhere to hide. The result is a... show more

Mick Hucknall is definitely in the Phil Collins bracket of getting more stick than he deserves. Brilliant singer.

Chris Evans is very under appreciated. His shows were unique and still to this day they've not been replicated.

Seen him live a couple of times now and his voice is outstanding the best live act I’ve ever heard

Mick is a sensational vocalist. I had forgotten all about this. What a great show TFI was.

Give him his dues, he can sing that lad.

Mick Hucknall is underrated as a singer - he really does have an amazing voice. TFI was so good, often nuts and scatty, but loads of fun!

He used to sleep on my ex’s sofa in Manchester in the early 80s before Simply Red had made it. That’s mad. Beautiful voice.

Think Evans was a bit gobsmacked as to how well he could sing. one things for sure, TFI would never get made today……

Chris Evans at the top of his game then. TFI was superb. Lucky enough to go to a recording once. What a fantastic day that was xx

Seen Simply Red a few times, Mick Hucknall is one of the best live singers, he sat on the edge of the stage at the NEC Birmingham & sang Every time we say goodbye a cappella, his beautiful clear soulful voice filled the arena.... stunning

Incredible singer, I watched this at the time and was blown away, another highlight of TFI was when Emma Burton sang a supremes song live, think it was baby love

The finest vocalist this country has produced in years.

Literally everything is scripted. If anyone believes this wasn't rehearsed they're mental. It was performed in rehearsals, Hucknall knew exactly what tape was to be played otherwise he'd have been all over the place.

Even Peter O Toole was nodding along, what a voice.

Not a big Mick fan but Fairground sticks in my memories and bring back a bit of childhood…. Nice feeling and this is pretty cool.

Love him or hate him he’s a professional.

Mr Hucknall is a LEGEND ! Seen Simply Red a few times over the years and fairly recent , still awesome , amazing performers ! And all round good guys !!!!

Stunning

That was quality.

Cheers man. Remember seeing it that evening on TFI Friday. 👍

What an impromptu performance. Guy had a hell of a voice , probably never got the accolades he deserved. Hell of a song too 👏🏻👏🏻

I saw simply red a few years ago in the Hugh e Glasgow Hydro and Mick’s voice absolutely blew us all away! That man really sing and transport to a different plane. He brought the house down with his vocals. The band of course were great as well x

Much happier singing than talking.

What a voice Love whacking on a bit of simply red on a long drive - did it just last week…

Back when Britain was a lovely place to live in. Good times.

I knew of a lady that was on the show when Mick was performing, a very pretty girl. He asked his bodyguards to invite her up to the dressing room but she refused to go. True story.

Fucking brilliant

You've gone too far now..... no one goes this level of shite

Absolute privilege to see him live years ago. Still listening to him.

Proper talent.

Brilliant singer/songwriter and one of the best live performers of our time.

Amazing singer

#elite shagger

The mic just so happened to be at the perfect level, mad coincidence 🤣

Brilliant.👏👏👏👏👏

He came to the city expecting nothing more than an ordinary afternoon. Then, in the middle of the crowd, a friendly conversation turned into laughter, a warm hug, and a moment neither of them expected. Sometimes, the most memorable connections begin with a simple hello.
