You can't always think yourself into an answer. Sometimes, you have to make space for the answer to come to you. Those answers tend to arrive in solitude. Sometimes, on walk. Sometimes, while reading a book. Sometimes, it's when you're lying in bed staring at the ceiling. The point is that the mind needs space to solidify ideas, and it's hard for that to happen when you're preoccupied with tweets, emails, short-form videos, and whatever else we happen to distract ourselves with these days. Riva asks: "How many people are alone? And even when they're alone, they're on their phones. How many people can sit with themselves and be alone for a long time? When you can get to that state, the thoughts come much more easily. And yeah, it takes introspection. It takes reading these old texts that people don't wanna read. But there's a humility there. You have to sit and let the ideas percolate."
