Sonic CD and 8-bit Sonic 2 being composed simultaneously is actually not surprising at all if you listen real close 🎵

This is a mere snippet of a 40 minute CD soundtrack analysis, in case that wasn’t clear lol:

You Can Do Anything is just Green Hills Zone with lyrics. Or the other way around. Who can say for sure

Someone needs to make a remix album of 8-Bit S2's songs in the style of CD it'd go so hard

OMG WAIT SO THERE WAS MORE THAN THE RAINBOW GREEN HILL MOTIF??????

ive been saying this forever also

たしかにそうですねっ 意図せず似てるものもあるけど😅

それは理にかなっている。少なくともどちらも素晴らしい音だ lol. あなたは伝説だ 🙏

anyone else hear asgore in that last clip?

How the hell did I not catch any of these before

I actually have a strong feeling that the boss theme might be Sawada's as it doesnt really have many signature hallmarks of Ogata's style-and he was so deeply into 808 state that his music in general represented its style, of which the song is just a rework of the intro to Cubik.

I NEVER NOTICED THIS???

you forgot something

It was too obvious, and they also used it over and over lmao:

@he_is_svyat I honestly think Sonic Boom is the better theme for Sonic. Nakamura's Sonic 1/2 theme is a bit too laid back and video gamey, "You Can Do Anything" is a little too bombastic, but Sonic Boom's groovy Prog Rock flavor PERFECTLY sells you on Sonic as a cool, super speedy badass.

@he_is_svyat The Sonic Adventure 1/2 vocal songs are cool too, but like with "Sonic - You Can Do Anything", they definetely lean more towards being bombastic and over the top side as well.

Sonic Boom is a rad song but it’s more measured and chill, which isn’t really how I envision Sonic, especially in this game. Sonic is like a rocket or a jet plane; something that tears thru the horizon and blows your hair back. I think the super high energy themes fit that well.

Sonic CD is particularly the loudest of these early games with a poppy 90s style that really screams out at you. The JP theme is such a massive shot of adrenaline from the start that really sets the stage for the crazy personality that Little Planet has.

Sonic cd (USA version) was an incredible OST that I still listen to this day. Tidal tempest. Collisions Chaos. Palm tree panic. Stardust speedway. And they all have different versions too? Incredible times.

Yes! I actually did two Sonic CD styled arrangements to explore this exact thought. Ages ago.

It's kinda bizarre how Ogata disappeared from the industry after 2006. I wonder if he retired or started using an alias.

@Tha_DiLA

Man ur vid was fire, genuinely inspired the heck outta me going into this year. Keep it up, u got somethin real special‼️🙂↕️

Don’t forget about Green Hills zone

I noticed most of these and Sky High Zone sound a little like Colision Chaos present to me

I literally had no idea about this whaaaat

Wow! I only knew the Green Hills Zone's which sounds like "You can do anything" It's not longer a coincidence.

This makes cd feel like you vs the guy she told you not to worry about

Sometimes I forget that Sonic 2 was on the master system

Damn I would kill for a mod of every 2D sonic game with the speed shoe/invincibility music removed

composed simultaneously while listening to an 808 State CD lol (this is not a complaint)

Parallel tunes? Gnomes say some melodies are just destined to run together

Did you know in some leitmotifs from Sonic CD (JP) and Sonic The Hedgehog 2? There was like the composer who definitely wrote this afterwards! 📀✨👾

Waw! Loves both these games and music and hadn’t spotted those! Well done. 👏

why does the first one sounds like danganronpa?

W

i challenge anyone to find a better video game soundtrack than JP sonic cd, just out of this world

There's also Green Hills' theme, which is just an instrumental rendition of You Can Do Anything.

And Sonic 2 Green Hill song, was used o Sonic R vocals (Super Sonic Racing)

Don't forget that Green Hills Zone's music is literally Toot Toot Sonic Warrior.
