When Donald Trump stood in the 2026 State of the Union and put on his “someone begged me to stop all this winning” voice, he was not reporting reality. He was recycling a decade-old rally bit and trying to bully the scoreboard into agreeing with him. In a speech already bloated with self-congratulation, the line where he says people are pleading, “please, Mr President, we’re winning too much, we can’t take it anymore, we’re not used to winning in our country,” is the purest distillation of his project: swap out data for vibes, then accuse anyone who does not clap of being anti-American.
