Forgot to add - free slum-level apartment, free 3rd world healthcare, free food queues for life's basics, free 5+ year wait to buy a car if you could afford one, free trip to the gulags for speaking out against the regime etc etc. Was a complete paradise.

Stayed at a Komsomol camp near Balashov Russia in 1992. It wasn’t being used anymore. Very comfortable, nice facility deep in the countryside. The apartments were not as pictured on US TV they were very nice where we stayed and the institutes were superb tho suffering for $
