The problem with us as Nigerians is that we love hearing things sugarcoated. You basically agree with Sowore’s point you’re just annoyed that he didn’t soften it or make it sound nicer.

You suggest that Sowore should ask people in the state what things were like before Alex Otti became governor, as though the failures that existed before his administration were not the responsibility of your own political leaders and kin. Yet, at the same time, you refuse to extend that same understanding to Lagosians who point out that Lagos before 1999 was in a terrible state. Speaking for many Lagosians, the Lagos I grew up in was a sanitation and environmental disaster. It was a city plagued by crime, jungle justice and clueless leadership; Lagos was a squalor that only enjoyed the tag of the former federal capital. I remember walking to school and seeing dead bodies on the streets, some mutilated, some missing limbs, others in horrifying conditions. That was the reality. That was the Lagos I grew up in. The roads were in terrible condition, infrastructure was poor, and even basic governance seemed absent. I recall statements about there being no funds available for road construction by Oyinlola. Yet today, many ignore the damage caused by years of military rule, simply to undermine Tinubu. That was the Lagos we knew before 1999. So, forgive me if I do not accept this narrative of “progress” in Abia without scrutiny. Calling mediocrity development does not make it so.

The mediocrity you celebrate in Abia today is as a result of the failure of past Governors, everyone should be held to standard, you can't excuse Otti because of his predecessor. If you are true to yourself and standards, Peter mbah is a better Governor.
