Tesla will eventually do this with their fleet. 100 million vehicles is a lot of compute that you can use while the car is doing nothing. It is happening, but it’s just a matter of time.

Nuclear is going to have to grow as a power source for these data centers. Way too much infrastructure fighting for the current power supply - it's going to be wild to see nuclear plants and trucks pop up left and right to power these data centers.

Global compute will move into the oceans. Oceans offer unmatched scale, cost+pwr efficiency thru cooling, and deployment speed. This is happening now @network_ocean_ and in the near future, I presume the largest data center on the planet will be in the ocean 🌊

the real estate game just keeps expanding. wonder what the zoning laws are out there

Biocomputing, or some sort of a bio/silicon hybrid is worth looking into. Biocomputing is 1 million x more energy efficient when compared to digital AI. Yes, 1 million x. More on this in linked post:

Technocratic Billionaires creating the infrastructure for surveillance & control.

Yet another breathless portrayal of a brave new world filled with boundless promise. History reminds us that periods of intense enthusiasm around emerging investment themes be they tulips, railroads, dot-com boom, have often concluded in disappointment. Arrival of AI, while unquestionably profound and transformative deserves a more grounded response. AI will indeed reshape industries, labor markets, and governance structures in ways that will define our generation. But breathless speculation, such as imminent data centers on the moon or under the sea, strays into the realm of science fiction. These are provocative ideas, but they remain speculative and in the near term, impractical. Curiously, nuclear fusion, now within striking distance and promising genuinely transformative access to energy, receives far less attention. So yes we may well see lunar or even Martian infrastructure within a few decades, but these are not today’s priorities. Such visions are more relevant to techno-utopians, rival billionaires locked in status competitions, and the ever-eager PE financiers of futurist dreams. What must not be forgotten are the urgent terrestrial challenges that continue to confront humanity: chronic food insecurity, the mass displacement of populations due to war & climate change, and widening social and economic inequality. As we enter the AI age, it’s not caution we need to apologize for, but clarity. Our ambitions must be grounded and priorities centered on the human condition. Maybe this can be dismissed as humanist babble, but maybe it’s just an antidote to the cult of utopia masquerading as innovation.

No DNA data centers are next

preferably, the AI companies leave earth’s oceans alone and just use alternative cooling systems that do not have to use water and save this precious resource for its real purpose.

Up next, a race for monetization to justify a Manhatten sized smart box.

Crazy!

Data centers will be needed regardless

Orbital data centers using space as the ultimate heat sink. Further, once AI becomes space based, good look anyone Earth having claim to silence it.

Imagine trying to get HVAC climate control and dust ingress eliminated from tents.

The vision of data centers expanding into oceans and space is a thrilling glimpse into the future of technology, promising innovative solutions to meet the growing demands of AI while pushing the boundaries of what's possible.

Wow

IREN in Texas

Yeah, look at the numbers for solar on the ground to solar in space. Hey @grok how much more efficient are solar cells in space than solar on the ground?

Pretty easy to cool things down when you are already at 26 kelvin.

the coldness of space is the best GPU coolant lbs
