In 2001: A Space Odyssey, Kubrick’s iconic match cut isn’t just about the bone turning into a satellite… it also transforms into the pen that drifts back to Floyd’s hand. Visual storytelling at its finest.

"Fly Me To The Moon" was written by Bart Howard in 1954 under the original title "In Other Words. The first recording was by singer Kaye Ballard. Frank Sinatra released the definitive and most famous version in 1964 on the album It Might as Well Be Swing, arranged by Quincy Jones and the Count Basie Orchestra. This recording became a anthem for NASA: it played during the Apollo 10 (which orbited the Moon) and Apollo 11 (first landing on the Moon in 1969), being one of the first songs heard in outer space. Sinatra was so proud that, at shows after that, he always dedicated the track to astronauts.

Christopher Nolan didn’t want a “humanoid” robot fo Interstellar. He asked for something radically different: a functional machine, almost military, far from science fiction clichés. The design of TARS (and CASE) was inspired by a mix of Kubrick’s monolith (2001: A Space Odyssey) and modular tools, with a brutalist style.

Since I was a little kid I've been fascinated with space travel. I have often looked at the moon landing footage. I hate to say it but I think that the footage is fake. I'm not saying that we didn't land on the Moon, I'm just saying that they didn't show us the real landing. It's widely known that Stanley Kubrick was doing 2001 A Space Odyssey at the time. I believe they had him create this footage. I would love to hear other opinions.

Teaser of INTERSTELLAR used real archival NASA footage. - Gemini 2/6 - Early aviation - Space Shuttle Atlantis - Alan Shepard’s launch - Apollo 11 moon landing - Breaking the sound barrier Love it's not just clips from the movie. McConaughey's voiceover was a chef's kiss.

2001: A Space Odyssey was released 58 years ago. Kubrick worked with aerospace engineers to design the film’s space sequences, and artificial intelligence were so accurate that NASA reportedly screened the film during early mission planning.

Stanley Kubrick filmed the moon landing hoax? Not a chance. This was the best he could do with a massive crew and the latest special effects for 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). The Earth is oversized. He added fake stars. And they couldn’t reproduce the Moon’s low gravity right.

Space Perspective successfully tested its space balloon in 2024, reaching nearly 100,000 feet before safely landing in water. However, in 2025, the company faced major financial issues, paused operations, and furloughed staff. Later that year, it was acquired by Eos X Space and is now working to revive its near-space tourism plans.

GREAT PRETENDER official video is OUT NOW! Inspired by Mulholland drive and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Both Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch’s work has always meant so much to us, true pioneers and visionaries.
