I can’t be impeached as Lagos assembly speaker — Obasa roars The impeached speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has criticised the procedure that led to his removal from office. Speaking during a welcome rally at his residence in GRA, Ikeja on Saturday, January 25, the former speaker described the corruption allegations against him as “fictitious and unsubstantiated”. He maintained that he was not afraid of being impeached but emphasised that due process was not followed. The former speaker alleged that his removal was orchestrated while he was away, and accused the state commissioner of police of aiding the process. According to him, “There’s no impeachment in national assembly. You can’t impeach the speaker. I believe in removal and I am not afraid of being removed, after all, it is not my father’s chieftaincy title. I am representing my people and they have returned me six times. If you want to do anything, do it well. They did the removal all because I was out of the country. Lagos is a special place, we cannot denigrate the state. When former speaker, Rt. Hon Jokotola Pelumi was removed, he was in the assembly and we did not invite policemen. When my sister, former deputy speaker of the House, Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuosho was removed, we did not invite the police. They should not discredit an innocent person, they should prove their allegations against me. The Lagos State House of Assembly is above the common standard of excellence. I believe in the image of our institution, we must not destroy it and I will never partake in its destruction. I appreciate the members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of the state, he is my brother and he always calls me his younger brother.” Obasa was impeached on January 13 by more than two-thirds of the 40-member legislative house over alleged misconduct and sundry offences. This dude was pulled over for a headlight violation. During the stop the officer involved demands to see the ID of the passenger ( his wife). The response from the driver is no, she was not driving. The officer involved throws out that Alabama is a stop and ID state. (Alabama Code § 15-5-30:) This state law allows officers to demand the name, address, and an explanation from someone in a public place if they reasonably suspect the person is committing or about to commit a crime. The driver’s argument rests on the principle that while he (the driver) is required to provide a license for a traffic violation, a passenger typically does not have to provide identification unless there is "reasonable articulable suspicion" that they have committed a crime. The Driver’s Stance: He correctly asserts that as the driver, he is the one being investigated for the headlight, and since the passenger has not committed a violation, the officer's authority to demand her ID is limited. Also Social Security Request: The driver also challenges the officer's demand for his Social Security number, citing federal privacy protections. [WATCH] THE PRESIDENT WILL NOT RESIGN. When it comes to the President, there is always a distinctive role between him being the President of the party and the state. There are many factors that influence the state in terms of governance and stability. If the President is called upon by some to resign and he keeps quiet it can throw the state into a state of turmoil. I want to make it clear that the officials agreed with the President on his approach, he took us into confidence and explained the factors that led him to make that particular pronouncement. We believe that the President did the right thing in pronouncing in the best interest of South Africa that he will not be resigning. There was nothing in terms of the judgment that warranted the President to resign it was just mere calls made by individuals and political parties that wanted to throw our country into a state of turmoil, uncertainty and anxiety. So it was imperative that he focus on that. It was correct for him to tell the country that from where he is standing there is nothing in the judgement that states he has done any wrongdoing and what he is going to do with the options in front of him and he has made this public. The President will take the Section 89 Report on review based on the outcome of the judgment and the legal advice he has received. There are no daggers out for the President to resign just opportunistic elements. These elements do not know what they want, they want to impeach and want him to resign, they do know what they actually want. The veracity of the report has not been tested in any committee so they don’t have a basis for the President to resign.

I’m not in support of violence in South East -Kanu The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has distanced himself from the violence in the southeastern part of the country. Officer holds man at gunpoint that does not fit description of the person he is looking for. Officer Kerzaya was called out to this hotel as a white man pulled a gun on the hotel staff. As the officer was searching the premises he ran into Trey an employee of the hotel and also African American. The officer proceeded to pull his firearm on and hold Trey at gun point for a number of minutes. The whole time Trey had his hands up and was eventually on his knees. Once verified Trey was an employee all he said to him was get out of here. Next this officer pulled his gun on another person in the hotel that also did not fit the description. The officer resigned from duty as his certification was stripped from him. Trey filed suit against the city and pulled in a settlement.

Oklahoma police arrest house is representatives member. At around 2:15am Oklahoma city police came across a small group of people hanging out on a patio of a closed bar. They approached the group and instructed them to leave as the business was closed. Oklahoma state representative Dean Davis refused to leave thus prompting the officers to take him into custody as he was visibly intoxicated. Dean felt that he was above the law and could not be detained trying to claim immunity. Officers quickly told him otherwise. Dean insisted he was immune and demanded the officer read a state law card from his personal belongings. In the end Dean did go to jail that day. Upon release he was censure by the house and stripped of all his committee appointments due to his conduct. Dean also was arrested in 2019 for DUI also while a state representative. Dean did plead guilty to his charge and issued a letter of apology to the OKCPD. Dean is no longer a state representative as he lost his bid for re-election in 2024. Good on the people of Oklahoma for kicking him to the curb. Great job to those officers for getting it right and giving him the same treatment as any other citizen.
