Then a public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree seems to imply to CBC that we will not know the make/model or provenance of the firearms until the investigation is completed. What is going on here? It shouldn't be this complicated...

Today in U.S. Attorney NDNY: Federal officials announced the arrest of three individuals involved in a major international smuggling operation along the northern border thanks to the efforts of the Homeland Security Task Force. Through a coordinated partnership involving U.S. and Canadian and Tribal law enforcement, investigators initiated a joint investigation into suspected cross-border drug trafficking activity operating through Akwesasne. Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes' opening remarks at a press conference Monday morning about the mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival Sunday night. Barnes was out of state at a conference, so not present, during the first press conference that occurred just before 11 p.m. Sunday night. Barnes said the shooting was the result of two individuals firing at each other, and the victims were caught in the crossfire. A 15-year-old suspect was detained and booked for investigation of first-degree assault and firearms violations, but no one is formally under investigation for homicide at this point.
