This is actually a really interesting mindset because it suggests that if someone does something kind for a person at one point in time, it somehow excuses every other behavior afterward. That kind of thinking is exactly why so many unhealthy dynamics continue unchecked. People are not all good or all bad. Someone can help another person during a difficult season and still engage in harmful, manipulative, inappropriate, or toxic behavior later. Both things can be true at the same time. As for repentance and God, I have spent a lot of time praying through this. Faith is actually part of why I believe truth, accountability, and protecting people from toxic power dynamics matter.
