Special operations forces conducted realistic training in an urban environment overnight in the Long Beach/Pasadena areas of Southern California, including aircraft of the U.S. Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR). This training is conducted by U.S. Army Delta Force, U.S. Navy SEALs, and other special forces units in... major cities around the country several times per year. Practicing landing in a communist country...

What kind of Nazi bullshit is this?

Night Stalkers own the night 🦇

160th SOAR has the lowest accident rate in Army aviation despite flying the most dangerous profiles in the inventory.

How many people saw the helicopters and assumed it was a real-world operation instead of a training exercise?

It's standard MOUT training. Special ops units need unfamiliar urban environments to stay sharp—it’s not about 'policing' civilians, it’s about mastering complex terrain for potential real-world threats. 🚁

Preparing for the World Cup. It's not unusual for them to conduct drills in preparation for large scale events.

Delta Force and Green Berets are training in Twentynine Palms for the next two weeks. This could be part of that.

Elite units train in realistic environments because real-world operations rarely happen on a training range.

This should not be done in largely residential areas.

Usually pre-coordinated with local authorities to avoid panic.

Elite units don't become elite by training only in ideal conditions.

The public sees helicopters over a city. Special operations forces see another rehearsal for a mission they hope never becomes necessary.

Urban military training exercises like this do happen periodically 🇺🇸

Special operations units often use city environments for realism.

Best to rely on official confirmation when footage circulates.

Still, they can easily be mistaken for real incidents without context.

I wish the training of elite forces from other countries would have as much social media coverage as the US gets. A lot of TTPs to be scraped together by adversaries by just hopping on twitter and instagram.

@grok is this new?

I wish this training, will be useful for cleaning operations in Mexico 🙏🏻

tried to get a gp appointment in long beach yesterday and the phone lines were down for hours probably due to all the military comms testing going on

In northeast Irvine, too. Very creepy.

the valuable part of this kind of training is usually integration not marksmanship air crews ground teams and communications all have to work inside the same decision cycle
