the berseria cast is tied with the picnic gang for my favorite cast in anything ever but i think berseria edges them out slightly because the picnic gang have to share the two games they get major screentime in

I haven't played Berseria so I can't talk about it specifically, but some games just expect you to make your own fun. Like, you would probably hate Devil May Cry too if you played it this way. The combat system is very deep, even if you can just beat the game by mashing X.

It's always so fascinating how acclaimed Berseria is when the gameplay is so mind-numbing and I state that as someone who played on Hard/Intense I think that Xillia and Zestiria were so bad that being "not terrible" and having a passable story created a cesspool of rabid fans

As much as I adore Berseria as a game, the gameplay is genuinely not really all that great and I can understand why people don’t like it.

This is embarrassing but I played through all of Berseria, mostly playing as Eizen, and didn't know that he had the dragon wings attack until I saw it years later. The game was so easy I never had to learn that mechanic

I completely agree that Berseria is the easiest Tales of game in the franchise, especially if you only play as Velvet. I'd recommend trying other characters to add some variety to the gameplay. Believe me, this doesn't happen in other Tales games.
