Speed Racer deserves a sequel

Honestly, i'm happy that it doesn't have a sequel. I'd rather see another anime adaptation from the Wachowski sisters. Like, imagine a Grendizer/Goldrake movie with the same love and passion of Speed Racer

When this movie came out it was right before the trend of 3D movies really took off, and I remember reading that they wanted to do a sequel in 3D. I can’t even fathom how incredible a 3D Speed Racer would have been.

I’ll say this till I’m blue in the face, this was the most accurate depiction of the anime to live action movie

Mmm...no it was a one and done movie. 2009 was a good year for it being out, cause if would came out now it would of went straight to streaming and nobody would care.

I would love a sequel as much as the next guy but I feel this film should stay as a sort of time capsule for that era and I’m afraid it might not catch the same magic, it might, but it’s real 50-50.

sorry to say but I don't think the Wachowskis could pull it off at this point, they fell off as filmmakers (new Matrix was pretty disappointing)

Hopefully the limited theater and 4K bluray releases will bring the Wachowskis back to do a sequel. We've heard years ago that the sequel story and such is already done for a while now, so it's just basically corporate decision to make one or not.

Only do a sequel if the script and story is good. I know the Wachowskis had something developed for a Speed Racer sequel but never got picked up due to the box office performance of 2008
