@georainbolt What's going on here? I know it's added by the public, but first of all you must use your Gemini to prevent this. Someone may su**de due to this. I have many other complaints on Google maps.

@georainbolt Hi Google Maps , for India if u are showing the route with least possible time , also mention the condition of roads as time taken on these routes is same as taken on longer routes.

Blows my mind that we currently possess the technology for Google Maps to turn all the street view images of the entire world into a video game you can play! In the future, we'll be able to say "yeah let's check out New York City 100 years ago!"

Have you explored Project Genie yet? 🌎 We just launched a huge set of updates! You can now simulate worlds grounded in Google Maps Street View, manage your creations in a new library, and share them externally. Let's dive in: 1️⃣ Street View Grounding: You can now generate worlds starting from real places! Just tap the Maps pin to choose a location in the US and you can pick a style like "Desert Sands" or "Ocean World." Describe your character, and Genie ties your starting location to real-world imagery. 2️⃣ Library: You can now store and organize your generated worlds. Easily explore past creations or remix your favorites to iterate on your ideas. 3️⃣ External sharing: You can now share your generated worlds. Anyone can watch a video preview of your world, and Ultra subscribers can explore or remix them. Check out a shared world here: ✨ And now, Project Genie is gradually rolling out to all eligible Google AI Ultra subscribers globally (18+). Jump in and start creating today!

Google Street View started as a project to scan the real world. Cars with cameras photographed streets to collect data. It worked, but everything that made a place feel like a place was gone. Until Andy Szybalski prototyped what it could feel like as a product designed for people. The prototype was completely fake. The map didn't work and the imagery wasn't real. But it let people feel what it was like to stand on the street. An engineer saw it and said "let's ship it." Andy had to explain there was nothing to ship. This "smoke and mirrors" prototype convinced the team to throw out years of work and rebuild Street View through the eye of a human instead of a machine. I talked with Andy about the whole story, including the prototypes, the key design decisions, and how Street View became one of the most beloved products on the internet. Full story (with more early prototypes) in the replies 👇

It was important to me that on my first foreign trip as Secretary I made a stop in San José. Costa Rica is a model for what other countries in the region and around the world can one day become. I am grateful to President Rodrigo Chaves for his warmth and hospitality. 🇺🇸🇨🇷

What Happens when you bash Genie-3 (which is now hooked into Google Street View) INTO Google Omni? Something kind of fascinating! We know that Genie-3 tends to decohere the further you go, but Omni can keep it consistent AND add in real world details.

Goodbye clicking on Google Street View to check out the route! In your browser, with you can actually drive anywhere in the world🚀 You can also create multiplayer races🚗🏎🚓 The world is generated ahead of you in real-time from OpenStreetMap data combined with satellite elevation data as you drive. Just added a WIP of night mode and replaced the placeholder terrain/road textures with some nicer physics-based textures. Also now anywhere you go a million street lights will be added too. This is actually slowly starting to look like the promised Need For Speed + Google Maps #threejs #gamedev #indiedev Single player mode: Just find a location, click anywhere on the map and click "Hop Here". After parachuting down hold X to call the car to the road. Multiplayer mode: Click on "Create race" and select start and finish points. A route will be plotted. Click on Share Race to get the link and start racing!

This young man was having visitors over so he parked down the street so his guests can park in his driveway. After he parked his car, a woman runs up to the car and starts telling that the spot in the street is her personal parking spot and she wants him to move the car, she starts using intimidation techniques while being passive aggressive. If she came up to you demanding you moved your car on a public street, would you? Do you know who “the Joe Anderson” is?

A parrot named Mango chose his own place in the car. Now he sits right on the steering wheel during every ride. His owner never taught Mango to ride like that. One day, he put his pet on the steering wheel, but he did not want to get off 😊

The compliment always comes first. The job question comes second. That is the real interview. How you look on Barrow Street is not how you pay for Barrow Street. One person gets flexibility. The other is already late for a shift that smiles on command. Holding hands in the Village still has a cost. It just looks cheaper because the flag is already on the door. We film the outfits and call it culture. The rent, the hours, and who gets to walk that slow on a weekday never make the caption.

Step into the map with the Street View grounding feature in Project Genie from Google DeepMind and Google Labs. Announced at I/O, this research prototype uses locations from Google Maps Street View as a foundation, letting you generate and explore interactive, 360-degree virtual environments from just a text prompt or real-world starting place. Cool, right? But… How does it actually work? 🤔 As an experimental tool, Project Genie tackles the "blank space" problem (showing both what’s in front of the camera and behind it) by utilizing Street View data to realistically generate a 360-degree view of the location you selected as the starting point for your world to generate from. Worlds generated by Genie are far more dynamic and rich because they’re created frame-by-frame based on the world description and user actions. By predicting each subsequent frame, Genie is able to simulate what it looks like to swim across an ocean, or hike to the top of a peak, marking a massive shift in interactive media and simulation pipelines. What real-world place would you want to step into and explore?
