Sprinting will drive weights, but weights won’t drive sprinting? I first heard this quote from Buddy Morris, who I believe was inspired by his interactions with Charlie Francis. I've seen countless athletes get stronger in lifts, but not see it transfer to speed.

However, when athletes get faster, their lifts almost always go up. I've also stated in the past that when you see a fast athlete with a big squat, that their squat is more related to their speed ability rather than vice versa.

As stated in the video, when one’s preparation is low, almost everything will help. That’s not what I’m talking about in this post.

I’m still surprised by this at times. I’ve seen some of my track athletes effortlessly move weights that they haven’t done before even though they’re mainly working on speed at the time.

Of course there are exceptions and this is not meant to be a hard rule, just something I learned and have continued to see in my career. Want to see how I combine speed, plyos, and strength work? I offer custom remote coaching and proven programs. Link in bio.

Does mass specific force play a big role? I definitely see it with football guys due to the weight ratio...

In your opinion, is the weight room more for imjury prevention and overall stability (for runners?)

I think it’s a touch of everything and can definitely enhance performance, but most of it is very general and provides indirect transfer

Charlie Kirk is inspiring spiritual awakenings in people who never cared before, who never believed in a god This is so powerful “So Charlie Kirk died 3 days ago, and since then, I have seen a lot of content from him that I've never seen before. A lot of it is him talking about his faith. And I've seen his content before, but only him debating the college kids. I've never seen anything else. I didn't even really know he's religious like that. And, brother, ever since he passed away 3 days ago, every time I see a video of him talking about his faith, bro, straight Water Works (crying) like I can't… It's almost hard to control.” “I've seen a lot of his other content, and none of it makes me emotional except when he passed away. That was really sad. But nothing else. For some reason, whenever he's been talking about God, I am just trying to not lose control. And I've had a few people telling me, like, maybe it's God trying to reach out to you, which sounds crazy to me because I've never believed in God, ever. I've always been like, that doesn't exist. It's not real. But it doesn't make sense. It's like, why would I get so, I'm not an emotional dude at all. So for me to get uncontrollably emotional about this thing that I don't even believe in, it's like, well, why is that happening? It doesn't even make any sense to me at all. So I got a Bible. I got this little thing right here. I don't know if it's the correct version. I've heard that there's a lot of different versions of it. I've heard people say that this is better than the other. I don't know — I guess this marks day one of me trying to read the Bible and see what it's about.”
