The picturesque Sethukkarai beach located at around 60 kms from Rameshwaram. This is exactly the place where Shri Rama and vanara sena built the bridge to Lanka (Sethukkarai - edge of sethu). A beautiful Hanuman temple located right at the shore. It is said that during low tide, the remnants of sethu can be seen. At around 4 kms from Sethukkarai, Thirupullani Adi Jagannatha Perumal temple (one of 108 divya desams) is located. It was here that Shri Rama did penance to Samudraraja on a bed of darba grass (pul - grass) before commencing the construction of sethu.
