Today marks a historic moment for Kyivstar, as it becomes the first mobile operator in Europe to launch Starlink Direct to Cell satellite technology for its customers in Ukraine. Now, all Kyivstar customers in Ukraine with 4G smartphones can stay connected through Starlink Direct to Cell, even when the terrestrial network is not available. Direct to Cell will also connect IoT devices with common LTE standards. Direct to Cell works with existing LTE phones wherever you can see the sky. No changes to hardware, firmware, or special apps are required. First services launch first half of 2025. My friend was hiking uphill in New Zealand with no network coverage and still was able to send his mom a text using SpaceX satellite connectivity. Imagine how many lives this can save. Starlink is saving lives. ❤️

SpaceX successfully simulated the deployment of 20 Starlink V3 satellites during Starship V3’s first flight. Starship V3 can hold up to 60 of these satellites. Each Starlink V3 satellite offers 1 Tbps of downlink capacity. That means a single Starship launch can add up to 60 Tbps of total downlink capacity to the network, more than 20x what a Falcon 9 delivers today with V2 satellites. Insane scale. V3 will also enable 5G high-bandwidth direct-to-cell connectivity anywhere in the world. This would only be possible with Starship. 🦾
