Delhi Police told the Supreme Court its facial recognition system flagged 2,873 people with criminal records at protest, assured no action without verification. An Express verification shows at least 25 on that list, facing serious charges, were in jail. Now, the only possibility is that one of the systems is faulty. However, everything is possible with this incabale government.

India’s huge FCNR inflows have bought the country time, but the real challenge is to attract stable, long-term capital before those liabilities have to be repaid, according to Sajjid Chinoy, Head of Asia Economic Research at JPMorgan. Chinoy told CNBC-TV18 that around $130 billion could need to be repaid over the next three to five years. To meet those obligations, India will need to generate sizeable surpluses from its external transactions and, more importantly, bring back permanent capital flows such as foreign direct investment (FDI

A single gigawatt of orbital compute requires roughly 200 Starship launches and Elon Musk is not satisfied with gigawatts (Save this). The target is 100 gigawatts of orbital compute per year which means SpaceX is staring down a launch requirement that no organization in human history has ever attempted at anything close to that scale. He acknowledges that scaling to gigawatts per year in orbit is a very hard challenge, but then points to something most people have missed entirely, SpaceX has already demonstrated the foundational capability, because building and launching thousands of Starlink satellites per year is the same industrial problem applied to a different payload. When you understand the orbital compute satellite as a larger version of Starlink V3 with an Nvidia GPU rack at the center instead of a communications payload, the manufacturing and launch scaling challenge stops looking like science fiction and starts looking like a production ramp. The infrastructure to support that ramp is already being built. SpaceX is currently capacitizing for thousands of launches per year, two launch towers and pads in South Texas are operational, the first pad at Cape Canaveral is nearly complete, a second is on the way at Launch Complex 37, and additional locations are already in discussion. As the CFO says it "You need to have those cost curves as you ramp up in volume and time, your costs go down." The vision he describes for what this eventually enables is striking in its specificity. He imagines asking Grok a question on his phone, the inference running on an orbital compute satellite, and the answer coming back down through Starlink direct-to-cell, a complete AI query processed entirely in space, from prompt to response, without touching a single terrestrial data center. That moment, he says, is closer than the industry thinks, with initial capability demonstrations possible as soon as next year. The bottleneck that stands between now and that moment is not the satellite design, the cooling physics, or the silicon, all of which SpaceX has already worked through.

Why Japan Is Teaching Rockets to Come Home The concept of a reusable rocket is deceptively simple: instead of discarding an expensive stage into the ocean after every launch, land it and launch it again. SpaceX built its competitive edge on this very principle—and now others are mastering the same technology. Japan joined this club over the weekend. Its space agency, JAXA, conducted the first flight of the RV-X—a small experimental rocket developed in partnership with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The flight was brief, lasting less than a minute: it rose 11 meters, shifted 16 meters laterally, and executed a soft, vertical landing. Keeping a rocket upright on a column of thrust is akin to balancing a pencil on your fingertip—except the pencil weighs tons and is powered by a flame. A split-second error is all it takes to lose that vertical stability. Engineering features play a crucial role here: an upgraded engine that has undergone 165 hot-fire tests and four shock-absorbing legs designed to cushion the impact with the ground. All of this serves as a rehearsal for a far more ambitious goal: a future reusable successor to the current expendable H3 rocket, intended to deliver payloads to orbit at a significantly lower cost. Japan is not acting alone; it is developing the RV-X in collaboration with France and Germany, while just a day earlier, China successfully recovered a first stage for the first time. The world is gradually shifting toward rockets that do not burn up after a single flight but instead return to pick up their next payload.

Álvaro Arbeloa, new head coach of Fulham in the English Premier League, coaching his players… What is coaching for? Engagement - helping players engage Development - helping players learn & grow Competing - helping players perform under pressure “𝟏𝟎𝟎% - 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 - 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬, 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬” A message of engagement. A call for attention because the currency of coaching is attention. Capture, captivate, and cultivate their attention… “𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞; 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 - 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐲” Directing attention onto an external cue (the movement of a teammate) followed by a tactical cue (turn and look)…backed with a moment of retrieval (“like you did the other day”)…confidence…you’ve done this before… “𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞…𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲” The declaration of hard is useful…I’d love to hear reinforcement of a mental technique here…”This is where you need to use self-talk to keep your energy and effort up” - mental techniques influence physical effort… “𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐦” Insistence is so often the most powerful tool in a coaches armoury. But can coaches insist that teammates insist. Relational development is so often the strongest mediator of success in coach-team relationships. “𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦…𝐢𝐟 𝐡𝐞’𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞…𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞” You want a player to remember your instructions…then engage them in retrieval practice. Ask them questions about what you’ve just instructed them (if there’s time). Retrieve…Rehearse…Remember “𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞, 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞…𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛….𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥” An important instruction…again, have them repeat this back and even get them to physically show you this. Get them to verbally repeat but also physically rehearse (no matter how artificial it feels). Embodying instructions is essential (if there’s time) “𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐲𝐬…𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞” Get them in a huddle…get them discussing what was good. Point out to them what was good. Give them evidence to go home with…and get them to give themselves evidence. Reinforce these tomorrow as expectations. Note: none of the above is a judgement of Arbeloa…I’m using these tiny vignettes as an opportunity to reinforce some coaching ideas ************************************* If you like these ideas, you might like my new book, Compete, which is available on all good online retailers.

Progress at NordSpace's Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX) in Newfoundland and Labrador is moving quickly both at SLC-01 and SLC-02 in preparation for Tundra’s orbital launch as early as 2028 and ahead of our first of several planned Taiga suborbital launches starting soon. SLC-01 is the site of our orbital launch pads, sized to scale to reusable medium-lift and larger vehicles. SLC-02 is the site for light-lift and suborbital launches, and as seen in this video, pad and site upgrades are in progress. Taiga launching will mark the first ever commercial liquid rocket launch in Canadian history, and is being specifically upgraded and engineered by a small team at NordSpace to fly often and retire risk for our orbital vehicle with successive missions for Tundra including in propulsion, manufacturing, structures, licensing, day-of-launch operations, flight termination, avionics, active controls, and more. SLC-01’s road tender closed earlier this week, and we are in the process of reviewing the bids. Critical design elements of SLC-01 are being finalized to maximize capability, interoperability, and safety this summer to achieve initial operational readiness by 2027. With an approved spaceport integrated into our vertically aligned launch architecture, NordSpace is uniquely positioned to compete for and support national security, civil, and commercial missions requiring responsive and reliable launch from Canadian soil. The Atlantic Spaceport Complex offers a set of unmatched capabilities: ✅ Widest range of nominal launch inclinations in Canada from 44 to 105 degrees over the Atlantic Ocean, enabling access to polar, sun-synchronous, mid-inclination, and select equatorial trajectories ✅ Positioned 5+ km (extendable to 10+ km) from the nearest town with 6,000 acre buffer zone, enabling the safe operation of medium-lift and future heavy-lift launch vehicles by offering the largest safety distances of any launch site in Canada ✅ Approved for an initial ramp up to 20 launches per year, offering the greatest cadence of launches in Canada ✅ Supported by nearby seaports, airports, and highway infrastructure, providing multiple logistics pathways for launch vehicles and payloads For NordSpace, the ASX is a foundational element of our end-to-end launch strategy and a direct extension of our launch vehicles. Internalizing spaceport operations enables more efficient and scalable mission execution, guaranteed schedule and range control, enhanced reliability with redundant infrastructure, and reduced launch costs, all while allowing us to capture greater value across the launch supply chain. NordSpace's responsive launch vehicles under development comprise light-lift Tundra (1,100 kg), Tundra+ extension to medium-lift (2,000+ kg), and future reusable medium-lift Tempest (5,000+ kg LEO). American-made drone smashes performance metrics at Chinese prices | Loz Blain, New Atlas A new drone company has exploded out of stealth mode in the USA with incredible claims about its first product, saying it'll fly 4X longer, 10X further, 10X quieter and carry 5X more payload than leading competitors – while competing with China on cost. Let's start with the numbers. Silicon Valley-based SiFly has announced two industrially targeted models with some absolutely ludicrous stats attached. The smaller Q12 platform carries up to 10 lb (4.5 kg) of payload. It can hover for a remarkable two hours - or manage three hours in forward flight, for an operational range of 90 miles (145 km). The company says it's radically quieter than anything in its class as well, and "nearly silent at 100 meters" (328 ft). Deliveries are slated to begin at the end of the year. The larger Q250 platform is built for heavy lift, and capable of carrying a 200 lb (90.7-kg) payload for 100 minutes of endurance. Set for launch in 2026, it's designed for fire suppression, cargo missions and crop spraying at a fraction of what the usual helicopter would cost. "Commercial drones have long forced organizations to compromise between flight duration, payload capacity, and operational range," said Brian Hinman, Founder and CEO of SiFly, in a press release. "We eliminated those trade-offs. SiFly drones are transforming emergency response, infrastructure inspection, and logistics – delivering helicopter-class performance at drone economics." The company says it's validated its performance claims in real-world operations, naming California's Amaral Ranches as an early pre-launch deployment partner. The question of course is ... how? Drones are a well-understood technology now that's been dominated from the very beginning by Chinese companies. If SiFly's figures hold up and this company truly puts 4-10X multiples on these key performance stats, it's sitting on some revolutionary technology advances in energy storage, propulsion, aerodynamics and/or materials – areas that are already highly optimized after more than a decade of commercial and industrial drone development. Annoyingly, there's nothing particularly revolutionary-looking in the renders, and SiFly has yet to explain exactly how it's achieved such a radical leap in performance – not to mention how it's managed to design and manufacture in the USA at prices competitive with Chinese competition. Or indeed, what these prices are. Which would give this company a strong whiff of vapor... But former NASA Chief Technologist for On-Demand Mobility and current Whisper Aero CEO Mark Moore (who knows a thing or two about quiet propulsion systems at the very least) lends this group some third-party credibility in a LinkedIn post: "SiFly's reveal today is kinda breathtaking in terms of capabilities," he writes. "I've personally been able to see this drone develop through the years, and know the principals as serious players. The specifications they've achieved are really impressive, from the empty weight fraction to the cruise Lift/Drag - this is the best multicopter out there, by far. And while they don't hype it up, they've designed this product to be affordable so that it can be used en masse as a swarming solution. Well worth a watch. Well worth the money. Awesome job!" In Wales, boats cross the sky. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧 The man who built it was born with nothing. At Pontcysyllte, narrowboats cross a trough of iron 38 metres above the River Dee. They have done it for over 200 years. The man who built it began as a shepherd's son on a Scottish hill farm, his father dead within months of his birth, the family poor. Thomas Telford was apprenticed to a stonemason at 14 and taught himself the rest. Then he built on a scale Britain had never seen. A road 260 miles from London to Holyhead, the first great road in Britain since the Romans. Over 1,000 bridges. The great docks of London. 32 churches through the Highland glens. A canal clear across Scotland, coast to coast. 🏛️ In 1826 he threw the Menai Bridge across the sea to Anglesey, the longest span on earth. 🌍 They called him the Colossus of Roads, and when Britain's engineers founded their institution, they made the shepherd's son their first president. You were told this country was built by its lords. It was spanned by a boy who began with nothing. 👑 He died in 1834 and lies in Westminster Abbey. A town still carries his name. You have crossed his bridges without ever knowing him. He left it all to you, unsigned. We are putting his name back where it belongs. That is what we do here. For years, NordSpace has been building towards one goal: launching Canadian payloads on Canadian rockets from Canadian soil in a way that’s technologically scalable and commercially sustainable through painstaking vertical integration. Today, that vision is rapidly taking shape and we are pleased to share this inspiring video preview of what Canada’s historic first sovereign orbital space launch will look like. Enjoy! Tundra is NordSpace’s domestically designed, built, and operated light-lift responsive orbital rocket. It can carry up to 1,100 kg fully optimized to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) powered by our proprietary Hadfield rocket engines that are 3D-printed, regeneratively cooled, and pump fed representing the most powerful orbital-class propulsion system in Canada. The modular architecture means the same engine powers both the multi-engine first stage and the vacuum-optimized second stage, reducing complexity while creating a direct scaling path toward our future reusable Titan medium-lift vehicle, capable of 5,000+ kg to LEO. The Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX), under construction in Newfoundland and Labrador, is positioned at 46 degrees latitude providing launch access to polar, sun-synchronous, and mid-inclination orbits with the widest range of nominal launch inclinations of any Canadian spaceport. It’s the only fully Canadian-owned and purpose-built commercial orbital launch facility in the country with the highest approved launch cadence and safety distances allowing us to maximize the efficiency, reliability, scalability, and unit economics of our entire launch program. What distinguishes NordSpace is our commitment to vertical integration and first principles approach to business and technology. Rockets, spaceport, and spacecraft are all designed, manufactured, and operated in Canada by one streamlined team. We have already demonstrated flight-ready propulsion, completed integrated rocket tests, and have our first pathfinder satellite, Terra Nova, manifested for launch in 2026 with our edge-AI imaging payload (Chronos) for space domain awareness nd our electric propulsion system (Zephyr-EP). With recently announced $8.3 million in Phase 1 federal funding through the Department of National Defence’s Launch the North initiative, NordSpace is targeting Initial Operational Capability by 2028. Canada is about to become a true spacefaring nation, and our future on Earth and in space will never be the same. Let’s give’r! 🇨🇦🚀 National Defence Defence Research and Development Canada Canadian Space Agency

Have a look at one of the greatest examples of industrial engineering art ever created. This is the rotor assembly of the Ansaldo Energia GT36, one of the most advanced heavy-duty gas turbines ever developed. What looks like a collection of polished metal blades is actually the result of 3.7 million hours of engineering, combining decades of research in aerodynamics, combustion, metallurgy, cooling systems and precision manufacturing. A gas turbine works by compressing enormous volumes of air, mixing it with fuel, burning it at extreme temperatures, and extracting energy from the expanding gases through multiple turbine stages. That is why no two blade rows look the same. Across this rotor assembly, the colours, shapes and surface finishes constantly change because each section is solving a different problem. Some blades are designed to move and control massive airflow volumes, while others must survive the most extreme environment inside the machine. The most advanced turbine blades contain microscopic internal cooling channels. The cooling does not come from room-temperature air. Compressed air extracted from the compressor section already heated to 650 degrees Celsius, is redirected through passages inside the blade. It then exits through thousands of tiny holes, creating a thin protective cooling film in real time 24/7 over the surface of the blades while the surrounding combustion gases exceed 1,500°C all while rotating at 3000 RPM. A blade is not surviving because the metal alone can withstand the heat. It survives because engineers created a controlled thermal environment around it. The blades rely on advanced nickel-based superalloys containing elements such as rhenium, tungsten, cobalt and chromium, protected by metallic bond coats and ceramic thermal barrier coatings such as yttria-stabilised zirconia. These coatings are one of the most closely guarded proprietary technologies in turbine manufacturing. Every blade requires precision casting, advanced machining, laser drilling and microscopic inspection. A manufacturing defect measured in fractions of a millimetre can affect a rotor weighing around 150 tonnes and spinning at 3,000 RPM. The complete GT36 turbine system weighs around 520 tonnes and, in its most efficient combined-cycle configuration, can produce approximately 800 MW of electricity at around 64% efficiency enough to supply roughly 500,000+ homes. A complete power plant built around a machine like this can cost around $500-600 million, but the true value is not the steel and turbine machinery. It is the industrial capability and know how required to build a machine designed to operate for 30+ years and more than 100,000 equivalent operating hours, while repeatedly surviving one of the harshest environments humans have ever engineered. This is what the peak of industrial engineering looks like before it starts moving, this is what powers the world. Engineering is Art Video by AnsaldoEnergia
