Ursula von der Leyen announced yesterday that the EU will introduce a new mandatory EU age verification app for social media. The new law proposal will be presented after the summer. People creating new social media accounts will have to prove that they are above a certain age as the plans are to introduce social media bans for young people. Users will need a passport, ID card or digital ID to generate “over X age” proofs for platforms. For now, it seems that it will target new accounts but some are also pushing for retroactive ID requirement to verify already existing social media accounts.

About 11.1 million voters will receive notices and will be required to submit documents to retain their voter status. The deadline to fill the SIR form is midnight today.
