Sam Altman recently said, "If AI stays on the trajectory we think it will, then amazing things will be possible. Maybe with 10 gigawatts of compute, AI can figure out how to cure cancer." That's a fine quote. The abundance AI promises is super exciting. But Sam is saying that AI is going to figure out how to cure cancer. And if you've used these tools today, and talked to people who are at the labs, the reality is it's much more likely that humans will use AI to cure cancer. Small tweak, but a big difference. Apple under Steve Jobs put human centrality at the heart of everything they did. And we need that spirit to infuse how we communicate about AI today.

Steve Jobs: "I've made this mistake probably more than anybody else in this room." When challenged about Apple's technology decisions, Jobs shared a marketing lesson that changed how he approached building products: "You've got to start with the customer experience and work backwards to the technology. You can't start with the technology and try to figure out where you're going to try to sell it." He continues: "And I've got the scar tissue to prove it." Jobs explains that when developing Apple's strategy and vision, the starting point was always: "What incredible benefits can we give to the customer? Where can we take the customer?" Not: "Let's sit down with the engineers and figure out what awesome technology we have and then how are we going to market that." He acknowledges that some technologies might be impressive in isolation, capable of producing great demos or even small commercial applications. But as Jobs puts it, the hardest question is: "How does that fit into a cohesive larger vision?" Start with the experience you want to create. Then build backwards.

This whole conversation surrounding Diva and Rumi, it’s almost as if we warned yall that it will get to this level, and it be will the viral tweets from the BeyHive that they will use in their propaganda. But when we talk about it, yall tell us “you hate fun… it’s a joke…. They will do it anyway” And now here we are! And It’s always the usual culprits and their defenders. Every tour era we deal with this, rinse and repeat. It’s almost as if we never learn.
