This is like saying "This is how the cool kids paint paintings now" and showing a video of a person building a jigsaw puzzle

People like you are destroying art, this sucks

That's the goal! From art to method :)

@CovaDoggo What does this mean and why?

@CovaDoggo

@CendoSK @CovaDoggo Link to article?

@CendoSK @CovaDoggo It's from Jane McGonigal's Reality is Broken book. Chapter 2: The Rise of the Happiness Engineers

The most soulless way to make a game possible

Only if you don't have a soul already.

You disgust me beyond words

Not carying.

if you do this you are getting replaced with AI before your game is done

Nah. That's how you get ahead of them.

The Ludonauts Gameplay Library is an ever growing collection of game mechanics with game design insights to help you design and develop your dream game. Assets, tutorials, insights, classic, and modern references. Free demo available, check it out: ➡️

this will make generic garbage, dont waste your time

A game should be more than the sum of its parts. This just makes lazy shit.

This sounds like it's skipping a big part of design, which is understanding how each mechanic integrates with eachother and the player.

Like that?

Do you think people using this app, would read all that text and go through the systems themselves?

They are paying for that, so yeah. Why do you think they wouldn't? And in the end, if they don't, why are you so upset about it?

Because not understanding mechanics leads to bad design, that's why we have so many badly designed games nowadays.

No, we have so many badly designed games exactly because of people like you who think there's no value in studying game design and learning from successful games and would rather "do it themselves".

I do not understand the hate, that just seems like a goldmine of knowledge to "start" or to prototype. That sounds criticizing renpy or RPG maker for being too genre focused. While I'm not the target of your work that sounds like a very big and cool project made with passion! :D

I might have stepped into one of those NPCs Hive Trap. Nobody is understanding where these people are coming from.

That's certainly odd! You should see this as an opportunity to explain your project further, with the right words you can convince some. Or at least show them how you can boost creativity, if that's what they fear.

Will do! I just planned a video tutorial to show some use cases for at least three common struggles in design: 1. Concept 2. Balancing 3. Prototyping Hopefully it will help people visualize more clearly how it could help them.

Cozy rogue-like with Souls elements

Definitely would

I don't think you're getting enough hate for this. If you guys have anymore reason to hate this product and its "creator" look at their profile. Also the content is ai written so you're getting design ideas from an LLM not some curated system from a skilled developer

The hate you're getting is justified.

This is one of those really perfidious things that helps indies do what they want to do, but leads them away from what they should do.

this is not how the cool kids are designing games now you design games by painstakingly thinking about them, and laying each brick and pixel one by one what the fuck

Oh my goodness

Bunch of slop!

database.

If you need this tool you shouldn't be making games at all.

How can you call yourself a follower of Christ and engage in this soulless destruction of the human spirit? You should be ashamed of yourself.

This looks pretty cool! Keep it up.

Is there a tutorial explainer video about what this does?

Recorsing it today!

Thank you! I will be a customer. I've written design docs as a lead game designer.

You might well be the very person I thought this tool for. Will be great to get your insights on now this can help your workflow.

I'd be happy to give you insights.

Looks interesting!

Thank you! We're improving everyday~

Hey! I'm curious about something. Are you planning to release something similar to this, but focusing on code design patterns, or is something like that already included?

@MagusCurt Never thought about something like this for code design patterns. I have a playlist on YouTube about those if you need asap. But at the moment I'm focusing on bringing more games and tutorials to the gamrplay library itself. No plans for code design patterns for now.

what is this garbage? I don't get it.

Embarrassing crap

Nice!

😎

Gonna check!

Thanks! I recommend coming baxk tomorrow for the summer sales 👀

I don't see what's so bad about this? Seems like an asset browser at its core, which is nifty.

It's a collection of game mechanics with self descriptive names and insights on how they work and some suggestions for synergies and stuff It's supposed to help on the design side of the project. But I'm also building the Godot assets (slowly) to help on the development side too
