They lucked into Bill Goldberg so the mistake of Starrcade didn't really hurt them cause Goldberg got so hot. At a private party in Figline Valdarno Tuscany, Italy, Sting grabbed his guitar for a song he called "Englishman in New York". Sting wrote the song about the famous eccentric and gay icon Quentin Crisp, who is the "Englishman" of the title. The song was composed not long after Crisp had moved from London to an apartment in the Bowery in Manhattan. Sting had met him and Crisp remarked jokingly to the musician that he "looked forward to receiving his naturalisation papers so that I can commit a crime and not be deported." The NWO Japan era was so crazy for the guys involved. A couple of them confirmed to me, they were not only getting paid by WCW, but also taking a second paycheck by New Japan when doing these tours (it was eventually noticed by WCW and stopped). But these looked like crazy times, especially having entire storylines that were never discussed on WCW TV. Here's a promo with NWO Sting, Masa Chono, Buff Bagwell, and Scott Norton from March 1997

I got to be the top guy in the number three promotion. And for a long time, I felt like my career was a failure because of that. Robert Redford didn't watch "The Sting" (1973) until 2004, 31 years after the movie was released. He finally decided to see it when he and his grandson were hunting for a video to watch. Redford said, "I had never seen 'The Sting' up until then. I was in Europe making 'The Great Gatsby' (1974) when it came out in cinemas and then afterwards I didn’t really want to look back. My daughter asked us to get pizza and an old movie. My grandson said he hadn’t seen The Sting, and I said, ‘How come?
