Kenny Space Center just launching rockets. Marshall doing a lot of the engineering. Texas being the operations and training center. Now, what are we doing at NASA? Researchers have used replicas of the Easter Island moai to demonstrate how they might have been "walked" to where they are currently on display. The moai were carved by the Rapa Nui people on Easter Island in eastern Polynesia sometime between 1250 and 1500. Of the more than 900 statues that were produced, the tallest one was 33 ft (10 m) high and weighed 90.4 tons. Exactly how these statues were transported across the island still remains a mystery but theories abound. In addition to the "walking" technique, some have suggested that they were placed on top of logs and rolled or placed on top of wooden sledges and pulled by 50 to 150 people.
