This is how you install it, should take 2 minutes or so. Then it’s “just” a matter of prompting. Ask “what is the function currently open in IDA doing?” to get started. The repo also has a more detailed prompt too, but it’s still unclear what the best strategy is…

On macOS, I get error while running the MCP server on ida pro cuz there’s no start MCP server plugin option even if I put it directly

What version of IDA are you using? I tested with 9.0 SP1. Any messages in the log? Feel free to open an issue in the repo!

Success! Claude 3.7 with my IDA Pro MCP server managed to solve the crackme that was previously failing🦾 The trick was adding a convert_number tool and stress to always use it for conversions. It took ~7 minutes to run and the cost was $1.85. Also includes an analysis report.

I'm still picking my jaw off the floor with this MCP update: Postman will now automatically build an MCP server for an API. Automatically! You select your API and the requests you want to include, and Potman will generate a Zip file with everything you need. In collaboration with Postman, I recorded a video showing how I generated an MCP server for the Google Maps API. It's glorious! Also, and before I forget: You can now test any MCP server with your Postman application. They built MCP right in, so now you can: • Connect to an MCP server • List out all of the available tools • Test any of the tools This is a 10x boost for the MCP ecosystem. Hacked together an IDA Pro MCP server in a few hours tonight! I gave Claude a simple crackme, but forgot to remove the source code from my project folder and in the end it cheated to find the solution🤦‍♂️ Variable renaming and retyping is implemented though, so that might be useful for others!

My mind is blown. Today, I was testing the latest shadcn MCP with Figma MCP and our upcoming pro-blocks registry (CLI 3.0). It was able to create this simple landing page designed in Figma with Pro Blocks and custom styles in around 4 minutes.
