About 11.1 million voters will receive notices and will be required to submit documents to retain their voter status. The deadline to fill the SIR form is midnight today. While the draft voter list will be published on December 31, the final list is expected in February. Despite an extended 15-day window, only about 1 million voters submitted forms, leaving 29.1 million forms unsubmitted as of December 11.

SIR is simply a routine exercise to clean up the voter list. The TMC has been relying on dead and duplicate voters to hold on to power. In Swarupnagar, many Bangladeshi nationals who illegally entered India are now fleeing. TMC has already begun its post-SIR manipulation plans because its political survival depends on defrauding the electorate. In several booths, the same individual holds multiple voter cards. SIR will put an end to all of this. It will clean up the voter list and restore integrity to the electoral process.
