Safety Checks Carried Out at Pattaya Entertainment Venues Following Deadly Bangkok Fire Following the deadly fire at an entertainment venue in Soi Lat Phrao 1, Bangkok, which claimed multiple lives and raised nationwide concerns about safety standards at nightlife venues, Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong has ordered all relevant agencies to intensify inspections of entertainment businesses across the province. Chair Luistro: VP answer to impeachment raps reads like prohibited motion to dismiss HOUSE Committee on Justice Chair Atty. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro of Batangas on Tuesday said the response submitted by Vice President Sara Z. Duterte to the impeachment complaints against her “doesn’t seem like an answer” and instead appears to be a prohibited pleading under House rules. Luistro said her reading of the Vice President’s filing raised serious procedural concerns. “Apparently for me, it doesn’t seem like an answer. While I was reading the answer, it looks like a motion to dismiss,” Luistro said in a radio interview. Luistro pointed out that such a pleading is not allowed in impeachment proceedings. “At maliwanag sa ating rules of impeachment ng House of Representatives that motion to dismiss is a prohibited pleading dito sa impeachment proceeding,” Luistro added. Luistro said the submission failed to directly address the accusations laid out in the complaints. “At least if I base it on the allegations contained in the answer, hindi siya responsive dun sa grounds, dun sa offenses alleged in the impeachment complaint. In effect, parang hindi sumagot and instead they are questioning the proceeding before the Justice Committee in support of their intention to dismiss the impeachment complaint,” Luistro said. UgandaVsMollyKatanga Senior Forensic Pathologist calls the possibility that Mr Henry Katanga was shot and killed by his wife Molly Katanga, “extremely slim and highly unlikely”. He said the case before Justice Rosette Comfort Kania is not a homicide but a homicide-suicide where Mr Henry Katanga beat his wife, thought she was dead then sat or stood on the bed and shot himself. He lambasted the postmortem report presented by the state to back up their case as a “very dangerous postmortem report that couldn’t have passed peer review” in a serious entity. Dr Sylvester Onzivua was the first defense witness in this trial. He holds a Degree in Medicine and Surgery, from Makerere University (1993), a Masters of Medicine in Pathology (2003), a Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic medicine from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (2005). He’s also trained in Forensic Anthropology from Durban. He worked with Mulago Hospital, attached to the Department of Pathology of Makerere University and part of his deployment was in the City Mortuary where he was the Head of City Mortuary. He worked there from 2005 up to 2013. He said he has testified in numerous cases, mostly for the prosecution, including in the military courts. In a session whose start was marked by early heated exchanges between defense attorney Elison Karuhanga and Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya, Dr Onzivua took on the mantle of courtroom forensic pathology Prof, basically reliving a teaching role he continues to play in real life at Makerere University, even after his retirement. Early court proceedings were anything but smooth, with the Judge calling both sets of lawyers to her chambers for more than 2 hours because the state was adamant that Dr Onzivua shouldn’t use the postmortem report on court file but should instead use copies availed to him by the defense. On resumption and with a 50 slide PowerPoint presentation, Dr Onzivua took Justice Kania through the science of bullets and bullet injuries. He told her how to tell a bullet entry wound from an exit wound. He then used images of the late Henry Katanga, taken during postmortem, to show that the pathologists who conducted that postmortem wrote an erroneous report that misled the court to think the bullet that killed Mr Katanga went from left to right as opposed to what he said was a scientifically incontrovertible conclusion that the bullet direction was right to left. This point is very key because when Justice Kania put Mrs Katanga to her defense, she relied in part on prosecution evidence that claimed that Mr Katanga was shot on the left side of his head and since he was right handed, this would be very difficult. Dr Onzivua scoffed at that and using a combination of human props and postmortem images, he showed that indeed the state had it wrong; that it was scientifically wrong to conclude as they did. He pointed to the absence of tattooing, lacerations on the hole on the left side of Mr Katanga’s head and wondered why the state pathologists concluded that it was an entry hole despite showing all characteristics of an exit hole. He said there’s “no tattooing, no blackening, no muzzle imprint on a close contact bullet entry wound? So how, how, hoooow would they have called this an entry wound in the absence of blackening, tattooing or muzzle imprint? There’s no scientific basis of calling the wound on the left an entry wound.” “The wound on the right was stated to be 5cm by 3cm and this was described as an exit wound. The entire dimensions of the ear were taken and then stated to be the dimensions of the exit wound. This, scientifically is not correct. The true dimensions of the skull defect on the right side were not taken and there is therefore no scientific basis to call it an exit wound. A comparison of the right and left ear shows blackening on the right and none on the left. On the contrary, the external features of the wound on the right side are those of an entry hole” Cont’d…

UgandaVsMollyKatanga Senior Forensic Pathologist calls the possibility that Mr Henry Katanga was shot and killed by his wife Molly Katanga, “extremely slim and highly unlikely”. He said the case before Justice Rosette Comfort Kania is not a homicide but a homicide-suicide where Mr Henry Katanga beat his wife, thought she was dead then sat or stood on the bed and shot himself. He lambasted the postmortem report presented by the state to back up their case as a “very dangerous postmortem report that couldn’t have passed peer review” in a serious entity. Dr Sylvester Onzivua was the first defense witness in this trial. He holds a Degree in Medicine and Surgery, from Makerere University (1993), a Masters of Medicine in Pathology (2003), a Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic medicine from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (2005). He’s also trained in Forensic Anthropology from Durban. He worked with Mulago Hospital, attached to the Department of Pathology of Makerere University and part of his deployment was in the City Mortuary where he was the Head of City Mortuary. He worked there from 2005 up to 2013. He said he has testified in numerous cases, mostly for the prosecution, including in the military courts. In a session whose start was marked by early heated exchanges between defense attorney Elison Karuhanga and Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya, Dr Onzivua took on the mantle of courtroom forensic pathology Prof, basically reliving a teaching role he continues to play in real life at Makerere University, even after his retirement. Early court proceedings were anything but smooth, with the Judge calling both sets of lawyers to her chambers for more than 2 hours because the state was adamant that Dr Onzivua shouldn’t use the postmortem report on court file but should instead use copies availed to him by the defense. On resumption and with a 50 slide PowerPoint presentation, Dr Onzivua took Justice Kania through the science of bullets and bullet injuries. He told her how to tell a bullet entry wound from an exit wound. He then used images of the late Henry Katanga, taken during postmortem, to show that the pathologists who conducted that postmortem wrote an erroneous report that misled the court to think the bullet that killed Mr Katanga went from left to right as opposed to what he said was a scientifically incontrovertible conclusion that the bullet direction was right to left. This point is very key because when Justice Kania put Mrs Katanga to her defense, she relied in part on prosecution evidence that claimed that Mr Katanga was shot on the left side of his head and since he was right handed, this would be very difficult. Dr Onzivua scoffed at that and using a combination of human props and postmortem images, he showed that indeed the state had it wrong; that it was scientifically wrong to conclude as they did. He pointed to the absence of tattooing, lacerations on the hole on the left side of Mr Katanga’s head and wondered why the state pathologists concluded that it was an entry hole despite showing all characteristics of an exit hole. He said there’s “no tattooing, no blackening, no muzzle imprint on a close contact bullet entry wound? So how, how, hoooow would they have called this an entry wound in the absence of blackening, tattooing or muzzle imprint? There’s no scientific basis of calling the wound on the left an entry wound.” “The wound on the right was stated to be 5cm by 3cm and this was described as an exit wound. The entire dimensions of the ear were taken and then stated to be the dimensions of the exit wound. This, scientifically is not correct. The true dimensions of the skull defect on the right side were not taken and there is therefore no scientific basis to call it an exit wound. If you wanna know what they’re looking for I have the answers to most of your questions. What they’re looking for is secondary bullet fragmentation. I strongly believe that they are looking for a secondary bullet fragments. In the first video, you’ll see proof that the front wound on the victim is an exit. Yesterday, Greg Bovino accused me of lying for posting a video showing Border Patrol agents clashing with U.S. citizens outside a Minneapolis high school. And while I wasn’t lying, after reading Greg’s statement, reviewing the footage again, and comparing it with the school’s own account, I realized I owe everyone a correction, plus some much-needed context. I originally said “Border Patrol agents were filmed assaulting U.S. citizens outside a Minneapolis high school.” After considering Greg’s statement, I’d like to clarify… “Border Patrol agents were filmed assaulting SCHOOL OFFICIALS on the property of a Minneapolis high school.” Greg was quick to point out that agents apprehended their suspect NEAR a school… Which is helpful, actually. Because that means they were never originally on school property. Therefore, after the apprehension, agents didn’t leave the area. Instead, they continued to surround the school, and THEN entered the nearby high school’s property, during the school’s dismissal. This aligns perfectly with the school’s statement: “Armed U.S. Border Patrol officers came on school property during dismissal Wednesday.” School officials then attempted to get the agents to leave so students could exit safely. According to one school official: “The guy, I’m telling him like, ‘Please step off the school grounds,’ and this dude comes up and bumps into me and then tells me that I pushed him… and he knocked me down.” With all that new context, the video becomes extremely clear. • The men speaking to the agents are school officials asking Border Patrol to leave school grounds. • An agent shoves one staff member in the chest. • He pushes the agent’s hand away. • The agent runs at him and assaults him again. • The agent continues to escalate the situation, shoving ANOTHER staff member beside him. • Staff members attempt to de-escalate. • Another agent charges in, grabs the original staff member, and throws him to the ground. • More agents rush in.
