Students will no longer be sent home if they misbehave at school - instead they'll be kept in 'internal suspension' where they'll still get an education and be consistently monitored by teachers. Should kids be kept in school for suspensions?

Bring back the old style borstals where punishment ment punishment not soft soaping! Give schools, parents & the police the discipline back that were taken away from them by the last lot of Labour idiots we had ‘running’ the country & watch kids behaviour improve!

Media pretending internal suspensions haven't been the norm in schools for the last 20 years, same as mobile phone bans!! 😄

My daughter is a secondary school teacher and the trouble she's had with some kids even threatening behaviour, no wonder teaching is losing teachers and governments are only concerned about figures , majority of these kids if they wanted to be taught they would be

Taking teachers away from class teaching so disruptive students get one to one teaching...is that fair on well behaved students?

This is code for… We don’t care about parent/pupil accountability and so teachers will continue to be abused by both children with no respect and the powers that be! Ffs

I know schools become de facto parents when children enter school, but, ffs, the parents should be taking responsibility for these kids. School staff have enough to do than baby sit your disruptive child.

And who supervises them? Already overworked staff?? External staff who won’t be able to manage them effectively? Who pays for them?

People who agree definitely dont have a child with sen needs.. my son is 8yr old as asd and gets suspended because MAINSTREAM SCHOOLZ is not the right setting.. there isn't even any sen schools available atm

And therefore increase attendance so your school won't be bottom of the league table that gets emailed round headteachers every day Suspension has never been a punishment by the time kids are suspended they don't care

Makes sense as usually they'd do something to be out of school and working parents then have to take time off work.

You know this already happens right 🤷‍♀️ I’ve worked in schools for 25 years and they have all had an internal suspension room 🙄

All this will do is declare that there are no consequences for poor behaviour.

If kids don’t attend school regularly and behave accordingly then any money parents receive for that child should be stopped. If the parents don’t claim anything for the kids they get a fine. I’m sure you’d have more parents improving the behaviour of their kids.

Oh oh I know this one! The SEN dept. Becomes a holding area that kids intentionally get sent to so they can just watch TV whilst the absolutely inept head of SEN just sits in his office ignoring his job, occasionally venturing out & being creepy to the girls - just my school?

Inappropriate curriculum for millions. Sit, listen, cram, test, conform. 40% fail at 16. The UK is Class ridden. Once war fodder the working classes are now general fodder (poor pay etc). GMB fails to see whole pictures. Divergent (& empathy) thinking needed throughout.

School nurses need to be in every high school.

If we disrupted any class, the teachers closed ranks, focused on the cause, and that person was flayed,,,in front of the class,,, with a size 14 tennis shoe,,, until the tears flowed,,, no tears ??? They kept going until the tears flowed, looking back, it was a flogging.

I think they should be kept within school and made to travel there daily, with criminal liability on their parents / guardians to get them 5here as a final sanction. Hardcore - but so many disruptive kids WANT to be suspended - it's a free pass and almost a badge of honour.

Very much depends on the incident, …. For some being “sent home” can result in violence

Where are the staff coming from to supervise these internal exclusions? And where do they go if there isn't a space available that is suitable? Another bright idea from those who have no thought for the practicality of their ruling. This also does nothing to encourage parents1/2

Some people weren’t built for sitting at a desk and staring at a board! Open schools that teach real skills, for those who struggle, get them growing food, building, fixing cars.

That’s great news, but it’s crazy that teachers are always saying they’re under the staffed and then they come up with this

No. More pressure on staff to supervise disruptive and in many cases aggressive pupils It’s the parents lives that need disrupting. Get them there to take them home and supervise them and teach them respect and responsibility

Having had 2 children go through the schooling system (& myself, obviously), I never knew they were sent home! Surely that's what they'd want to happen, therefore not a deterrent at all 🤷‍♀️

It has been reported that at-home learning enrolments in Queensland have increased by 229% in the past five years. Today there are 11,250 students being homeschooled in the state. Parents are pulling their kids from Queensland schools in unprecedented numbers, and here’s why: · Bullying, which is no longer confined to the playground but entering every victim’s home via social media · Poor academic records and performance, and · Woke, activist teachers and school curricula. The nation’s largest homeschool education provider said parents consistently say they’re dismayed at what’s being taught – and what’s not being taught – in Queensland schools. These parents deserve a pat on the back for taking a keen interest in their kids’ education and shielding them from the indoctrination taking place in our schools. Students must be educated, not indoctrinated. Students should be taught how to think, not what to think. They shouldn’t be forced to recite acknowledgements of country, touching their hands to the ground. They shouldn’t be taken out of school to attend protests. Any teacher that indoctrinates children should be sacked and never permitted to teach in Australia again. They can always get a job with a Greens senator who will happily indulge their woke extremism and hatred of Australia. One Nation is taking an education policy to the Queensland state election that will stop this indoctrination of innocent children. We’ll focus on the basics to improve literacy and numeracy. We’ll reward teachers whose classes achieve good academic results. And we’ll put parents at the centre of education decision-making, ensuring they have a meaningful say in what their kids are taught.
