Stuff like this makes people hate bikers.

I guess I should’ve added. This is a group in Chicago who were going to buy tacos at a mom and pop taco place. They stopped traffic so they could go eat tacos together.

Most of the time they are doing a charity ride, or a funeral ride or some other good cause. It's a motor cop that stopped the traffic. I'm guessing you've never done a group ride but you feel like an expert. I have ridden in many of them and it's safer for everyone if the group gets on the highway together even if it's a few minutes of inconvenience to the other traffic. People in cars tend to not see the motorcyclist and bikers end up maimed or dead.

Yea, if this was a stop light in a town, it’d be completely different. Annoying, but different. I can see that so the group can stay together. Blocking the entire highway is going to cause problems for a lot of people. Even after they are through, everyone is now bunched up and traffic is a nightmare.

So we should hate funeral processions too? Exactly the same premise, permits, planned event. Police direct traffic to allow the processions to stay together. Or do you just hate motorcyles?

It is a charity run. Usually to help children or veterans charities and shutdowns are generally announced beforehand

You obviously don't understand WHY they do it. It's for EVERYONE'S safety, not just those on 2 wheels. Maybe try getting information about why things are done.

These aren’t “bikers”, they are thugs on two wheels. They could ride side by side in one lane but took all four, and then terrorized others. Hopefully some were arrested…

As long as this had police escorts I have no issue with it necessarily. It's annoying, especially if you aren't aware of it and don't know what it's for, but otherwise fine. It's the damn takeovers that are the problem

How do we know it's not a funeral procession? If LEO is holding traffic, it's likely not Tacos. They also might be Hells Angels or Vagos. Just let them go and STFU. Ranting about a 1% funeral procession is just not smart.

So if they stop traffic on a highway... Someone is rear ended. Always happens. Does anyone pay their bills? There is no right answer. Should be planned with cops.

Police escorts usually only block traffic for rides that are honoring fallen soldiers or found remains of POW's brought back to the US. I have ridden in them with Rolling Thunder. It is for safety so the bikes aren't all mixed in with the traffic.

I love those! There is something magical in the raw masculinity and camaraderie. Everyone should see a Toys for Kids motorcycle parade. It's planned, well organized, and beautiful! It beats praying on the street or gluing themselves to protest. Lighten up a little! Besides, if they are going to Dearborn, MI, I am all for a little inconvenience.

With the way bikers ride now a days I really don’t care if they get into wrecks. And no I will not look twice for you weaving in and out of traffic and splitting lanes.

Bikers are super entitled and annoying. And those "Bikers are Everywhere" bumper stickers are insufferable. It's like asking everyone driving to watch out for the worst drivers in the world.
