@siddaramaiah @DKShivakumar A village cart road you said? Except the NH(ORR) and around Vidhan soudha, every motorable flat piece of land in Bangalore is determined as a road by putting third grade material after 40% cuts, there are no roads in Bangalore. Just lanes at most places.

Lal Bagh is the heritage of Bengaluru. It is the last large lung space where people can come and enjoy some peace of mind. It is contributing to the groundwater level of the city. The Lal Bagh lake is an important piece of ecology and heritage. Five acres is not a small joke. We have questioned this act of the government in the court. The court is hearing the matter. Thankfully, it has made the entire tender process and the tunnel road process subject to the final outcome of the public interest litigations. What is even more alarming is that the tender permits the contractor to build a five-story commercial complex on the five acres in Lal Bagh that they want to acquire. It is all written in black and white in the tender documents and in the DPR. Our fight is not against any infrastructure project. Our fight is not against development. We want development, but we want the right kind of development. Please do not spoil whatever little green heritage is left of Bengaluru for real estate projects..."

As a Bengalurean and with deep concern for the city's future, I would urge the DCM to consult experts and transport planners before making a decision on the tunnel road, ensuring that it serves the best interests of the city. Many citizens of Bengaluru are expressing their opposition to this proposal, and the DCM asks what authority they have oppose. Let me remind - we are taxpaying citizens. Bengaluru belongs to us all. Bengaluru, once built by visionary leaders, is now facing challenges due to poor planning, and it is our collective responsibility to safeguard its future. The DCM says he wants to leave a legacy for Bengaluru. Request him to build a Bengaluru accessible to even a comman man and projects which are feasible and needed for the city.

Bengaluru is being strangled by a corrupt government that refuses to govern. The traffic crisis is worsening by the day, and the core reason is staring us in the face: the explosion of private vehicles. But instead of addressing this, the state government is fuelling it. Instead of building mass public transport, it has launched a war against it. At a time when every rupee of public money should be invested in making public transport more available, more affordable and more reliable, this government has done the opposite. It is punishing those who rely on public transport and actively incentivising more car and two-wheeler ownership. The state wants to spend ₹1 lakh crore to build 100 kilometres of new flyovers and 18 kilometres of tunnel roads - a gift wrapped package for the politician-contractor lobby. But here’s the punchline: more than 20 flyovers have been pending for close to eight years, lying incomplete across the city. Before even completing what it has already failed, the government wants to throw billions more at the same failure. This isn’t infrastructure building. This is an addiction to kickback-paying contracts. The ₹18,000 crore tunnel road is the peak of this madness — a vanity project that benefits only private cars while being a death sentence for the city’s public transport system. It will not serve the pedestrian, the cyclist, the commuter - it will serve only the cars, the SUVs. It won’t serve the common guy who uses the BMTC or the metro. While the government wants to build more roads, it is killing last mile connectivity. Carpooling, bike-sharing, and auto-sharing remain unsupported. It refuses to allow private players to run buses alongside BMTC, despite the overwhelming demand. Metro fares are being hiked unscientifically, pushing people away from mass transit instead of into it. Meanwhile, ridership in Metro is weakening. And the result? The roads are flooded with cars. A recent study by Bengaluru Traffic Police on Outer Ring Road found a 20% increase in vehicle numbers in just one year, resulting in a 125% increase in congestion. This is not sustainable. This will lead to a total collapse of the city. Every delay in Metro completion brings more cars onto the streets. Every step taken to weaken the bus system brings more two-wheelers into the chaos. Bengaluru already has more private vehicles than people. No other global city in our population bracket has done this because no other city has such a suicidal mobility policy. Let’s be clear: this government’s mobility policy is not citizen-centric. It is contractor-centric. It is not about moving people - it is about moving cars. This is a government in the grip of a politician-bureaucrat-contractor nexus, that would rather pour concrete than build a city that works. And who is paying the price? The nurse who takes the bus. The student who walks to the Metro. The delivery rider stuck in traffic. The poor and middle class of Bengaluru, who don’t own cars, but are cross-subsidising roads that are built exclusively for car owners. This is not just poor governance. It is structural injustice. This assault on Bengaluru must stop. Every rupee of public money must be redirected to public transport. That is the only globally proven solution to decongestion and cities with denser populations than ours have done it. What’s missing here is not technology or funds. What’s missing is political will. And that will won’t come from those in power. It must come from the people of Bengaluru. From those who are stuck in traffic and fed up of being lied to. From those who are tired of vanity projects and demand real mobility solutions. From a new generation of leadership that fights for commuters, not contractors. Bengaluru is choking. We can either demand change - or let this city be buried under its own traffic. Let’s tell loud and clear - Public Transport is our Fundamental Right. We need our government to provide it. Brand Karnataka or Breakdown Karnataka? Shocking State of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation This is the current condition of buses in Karnataka KSRTC , and it raises serious concerns about passenger safety and accountability. Just look at the shocking state of maintenance the accelerator is being held in place with a strip of cloth tied inside the bus. The driver’s seat is in an equally alarming condition, crudely fixed with wires instead of being properly repaired or replaced. On top of that, there appears to be liquid leaking from the bus tyre area, which could indicate a serious mechanical issue. These are not minor defects they are clear signs of negligence. Is this what is being promoted as “Brand Karnataka”? Are citizens truly safe while traveling in such buses? Public transport is supposed to be reliable and secure, especially for daily commuters who depend on it. Instead, passengers are being forced to risk their lives every single day. If something unfortunate happens, who will be held responsible? It certainly won’t be the driver, who is forced to operate such poorly maintained vehicles under pressure. The responsibility lies entirely with the authorities and the government, who have failed to ensure basic safety standards. This teacher says if you ever wonder why people are leaving the teaching profession in droves, this is one of the main reasons. She has students that she has written an incident report on every single day. She has contacted the principal and the support staff and the help that was given to her was to email the parents of the students. Basically, no help or support at all. We have many epidemics in our country but this is one of the biggest that doesn’t get enough attention. We all know our school system is a failure but even more than we know. Students these days have zero consequences. They are passed with straight F’s. They are allowed to be a continuing distraction and disruption in the classrooms and nothing is done about it. We need to start over. 💯 Why do we allow this this as a school? As a district? As a city? As a state? As a country? It didn’t use to be like this? This is why other countries surpass us in education, there is no discipline in our schools. Would you want to be a teacher in this day and age at a public school?
