“Submit to Rome” doesn’t work… until it does.

If a protestant is genuine in their inquiry, they will admit that they absolutely desire structure, and authority. There is a western Anglo tradition that pervades their mind that says "freedom of the individual" supersedes all, but if they look at the World around them honestly, they understand that this is all nonsense. The lone wolf will lose out to the pack every day of the week. "Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!" -Jeremiah 23:1 They will also realize that the fundamental nature of man is one of shepherds, and sheep. Protestantism erroneously tries to make shepherds out of sheep. Its essential proposition is that there ARE NO sheep, and we're all just shepherds. That's how you can recognize it for the lie that it is. Hierarchies exist for a reason. Church authority exists for a reason, and protestantism is nothing other than a new way of offering Satan's proposition in the garden that we can all become like God. As much as they claim to worship God alone, their reliance on their own interpretations of scripture are an assumption of authority that was not meant for them. When their own churches are unable to give them the structure, hierarchy, and sacraments that their souls thirst for, they will inevitably come home to the Church that Jesus founded, and which he gave authority to feed his sheep through the Vicar of Christ, and the apostolic hierarchy under him.

You just described Protestantism perfectly. Reject authority then assume it for yourself.
