Such a shameless and reckless statement by DCM DK Shivakumar! When the person responsible for developing Bengaluru speaks like this, it is nothing short of an open admission of his own government’s failure and incompetence. The city’s crumbling infrastructure, flooding, and garbage crisis are the direct result of this...

It is disappointing to hear DK Shivakumar justify VIP ticket demands by saying that MLAs have a “right” because they are part of the government. This logic is fundamentally flawed and raises serious concerns about misuse of power and privilege. MLAs are elected representatives, not entitled elites. They are part of the government because the people of Karnataka voted them into power. The real stakeholders of the government are the citizens, not the politicians themselves. If being “part of the government” is the basis for receiving free IPL tickets, then by that same logic, every citizen of Karnataka who collectively forms and sustains the government should also be entitled to such benefits. If all citizens demanded free tickets, would that be acceptable? Clearly not. It would be financially unsustainable and absurd. Then how is it justified for a select group of elected officials to claim such privileges at the expense of fairness and transparency? This creates a perception that public office is being used for personal perks rather than public service. Moreover, events like the IPL are commercial in nature, not government functions. Providing preferential treatment to politicians undermines the principles of equality and accountability. It sends a message that those in power operate by a different set of rules than the common people. Instead of defending such demands, leaders should set an example by respecting ethical boundaries and avoiding any appearance of impropriety. Public trust is built when leaders act with integrity, not when they justify special treatment for themselves. #bangalore #bengaluru #dkshivakumar DK Shivakumar Royal Challengers Bengaluru Siddaramaiah Karnataka Congress KSCAOfficial alok kumar Mohandas Pai

The harsh reality of Bengaluru’s crumbling infrastructure has once again come to light, as just 30 minutes of rain have exposed the city’s severe drainage and pothole issues. The so-called ‘Brand Bengaluru’ concept, which DK Shivakumar and the Tushar Giri Nath IAS often talk about, seems like nothing more than an empty slogan. Despite grand promises of transforming Bengaluru into a world-class city, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Roads are submerged under water, potholes are multiplying, and commuters are left struggling to navigate through flooded streets. The lack of proper drainage systems and the sheer neglect of road maintenance have turned India’s Silicon Valley into a city that resembles an aging, poorly managed urban center rather than a global tech hub. Instead of focusing on superficial branding exercises, the government and civic authorities should be addressing the root causes of Bengaluru’s infrastructural mess. How long will citizens have to suffer due to official incompetence and mismanagement? If this is what ‘Brand Bengaluru’ looks like, then it is nothing but a failure that has left millions frustrated and questioning the city’s leadership. Karnataka State Police S. Throwing garbage carelessly on roads, footpaths, and public spaces and then blaming bbmpcommissioner and Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS is not a solution. Civic responsibility begins with the people. Cleanliness is not only the duty of the administration; it is a basic civic sense that every citizen must practice. Dumping waste “here and there” reflects negligence, indiscipline, and a complete lack of respect for the city we live in. At the same time, civic sense cannot grow in isolation. It is also a genuine request and responsibility of BBMP and GBA to provide proper infrastructure for waste disposal. If garbage bins are placed on every street, at regular and accessible points, people will be far more likely to use them instead of littering the roads. Public convenience plays a critical role in shaping public behavior. So the real question is not one-sided blame. Is it the fault of citizens who lack discipline and basic civic sense? Or is it the fault of the administration for failing to provide essential facilities and systems? The truth is, both share responsibility. Citizens must stop using the absence of bins as an excuse to litter. Carrying waste home or disposing of it properly is a small but necessary act of responsibility. Clean cities are built by mindful citizens, not by slogans and complaints alone. However, authorities like BBMP and Greater Bengaluru Authority must also step up by ensuring adequate bins on every road, regular waste collection, awareness campaigns, and strict enforcement of rules. Only when civic sense from the people and efficient administration from authorities come together can we expect clean streets, healthier surroundings, and a city we can truly be proud of.Cleanliness is not optional. It is a shared duty, and blaming alone will never clean our roads. Karnataka State Police S. After the infamous delay and abandonment of the Ejipura flyover, this seems set to become yet another glaring example of mismanagement and negligence by the authorities in Karnataka. Why were these pillars constructed in the first place if the project was not going to be completed on time? Such half-finished infrastructure not only wastes public money but also creates inconvenience, traffic chaos, and safety risks for citizens. It raises serious questions about planning, accountability, and the misuse of taxpayer funds. Projects are announced with great enthusiasm, budgets are sanctioned, and construction begins but somewhere along the way, everything comes to a standstill. Is it due to corruption, lack of coordination, or sheer administrative failure? The public deserves answers. These incomplete structures stand as silent reminders of broken promises and poor governance. If strict action is not taken against those responsible, such failures will continue to repeat, ultimately eroding public trust in the system. Karnataka State Police S.
