When you flush, water flows down and drags air inside the pipe. Bubbles form, and the flow becomes unstable. This creates a partial vacuum in the system. That vacuum starts pulling air from the toilet itself. That’s why you hear that “glup” sound and even get gas backflow. Now, when the system has proper venting, everything changes. Air enters through the vent pipe and balances the pressure. Flow becomes smooth, with no bubbles or interruptions. No vacuum, no suction, and proper drainage. That small pipe is what prevents the entire problem.
