Maggi Ketchup reduced its sugar by 22% and is available in grocery stores! 10 months ago, I had pointed out that Maggi’s “rich tomato Ketchup” had more sugar than tomatoes and then they improved their recipe. Their new ketchup has more tomatoes than sugar. 2 companies have reduced their sugar recently (Bournvita and Maggi ketchup). The End Of An Agricultural Era The Owner tried saving the business by reaching out to “The State Department and our Representatives in Washington DC — We’ve basically gotten nowhere” “The mill has about 90 growers. It's a coop, and I'm one of the growers. I'm Tudor Uhlhorn. I'm chairman of the board of Rio Grande Valley Sugar Growers. We're have been the only sugarcane mills since 1974. This was our 50 first season that we just completed, which was will be our last. Normally, this warehouse would still be full of sugar, but as you can see, it's completely empty, and we've shipped all the sugar. That's the last of the Rio Grande Valley sugar that there will be. If Mexico had delivered the water like they're supposed to, we wouldn't be standing here today. I'd be raising sugarcane, and the mill would be operating normally. We've done everything we could working with the International Boundary and Water Commission and the State Department and our representatives in Washington DC to try to push this issue, and we've basically gotten nowhere.

Last week, I visited British Sugar in Newark. Having previously met with the growers of Sugar Beet around Boston, it was great to see how the journey from the field continues onto our shelves. What a set up! 220,000 tonnes of sugar produced every year. 550 local farmers produce 1.5m tonnes of raw sugar beet across our fields, just for Newark’s factory. But the heat is another level!
