This is not a video of any protest in Nashik. It is from the famous Jamboo Savari procession during the Mysore Dasara festival in Karnataka. Cockroach is Back Abhijeet Dipke shared an edited version of the video. In the original footage, elephants are clearly visible at the end. During the procession, the central decorated elephant carries the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari in a 750 kg Golden Howdah. The Jamboo Savari tradition dates back to 1610, during the reign of Raja Wadiyar I, and has been held every year on Vijayadashami for over 400 years.

ದಸರಾ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯೇ ಬೇರೆ, ಕಂಬಳವೇ ಬೇರೆ. ಎಲ್ಲದಕ್ಕೂ ದಸರಾವನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುವುದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ. ನಾವು ಕಂಬಳಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಿಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೆ ದಸರಾ ವೇಳೆ ಕಂಬಳ ಬೇಡ ಎಂಬುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮನವಿ. ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ದಸರಾವನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಗೊಳಿಸುವುದರೆಡೆಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕ್ಷಮತೆ ತೋರಿಸಬೇಕು. The cultural context of Dasara is distinct, and Kambala is a separate tradition with its own identity. I believe it is not appropriate to link every event to Dasara. I am not opposed to Kambala; my request is that Kambala should not be held during the Dasara period. I feel the government should instead focus its full attention on organizing the many existing programs in an orderly manner and work with greater efficiency to make Dasara a grand success.

Yet the INDI Alliance repeatedly insults Hindu sentiments. They invited M.K. Stalin to Sabarimala, and now Banu Mushtaq who openly rejected Kannada Taayi Bhuvaneshwari to inaugurate Dasara. Asking someone with no faith in our Devi to offer the first prayers is a direct insult to the Goddess and to every devotee. Dasara is a festival of Hindu dharma and devotion. This message was delivered by Rt. Hon. Anita Among. I want to thank the Local Organizing Committee, as well as the Ministry of Education and Sports, led by Maama Janet, and everyone who contributed to the successful hosting of the tournament. Additionally, I thank the supporters who came out in large numbers to watch the matches.

Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah's death on 8 September 1982 at his residence, 10 Maulana Azad Road, in Srinagar brought a pall of gloom over the entire Kashmir Valley. While the Valley mourned his death for several days, over 10 lakh (1 million) Kashmiris participated in his historic funeral procession on the 10th of September. It took the cortege about 10 hours to reach his burial place at Hazratbal. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi walked some distance with the procession in the morning. She reached Hazratbal in a Shikara in the evening along with her spiritual guru Dhirendra Brahmachari and former Jammu & Kashmir governor LK Jha to attend Sheikh's last rites. Lt General SP Malhotra, army commander, Northern Command, led the procession and the muffled drums played the funeral march. The body of the Sheikh was buried under tonnes of flowers showered on it all along the route. The streets of Srinagar awoke early to the cries of mourners. Huge throngs had taken a vantage points for a last glimpse of their beloved leader. The 12-km route was packed with people sitting on rooftops, trees and electric poles long before the procession had started from Polo Ground where his body had lain in state for over 24 hours. Accompanying the procession were large number of dignitaries including Union home minister PC Sethi, law minister Jagan Nath Kaushal, Lok Sabha Speaker Balram Jakhar, governors and chief ministers including the governor of Jammu & Kashmir BK Nehru, large number of members of Parliament, Opposition leaders including Chandra Shekhar of Janata Party, Atal Bihari Vajpayee of Bharatiya Janata Party, HN Bahuguna, Chanderjeet Yadav, foreign diplomats, and large number of his friends and associates.
