Super Mario Land released 37 years ago today!!!

FFS I played this on release.

This and Tetris were my jam on the OG Gameboy.

This game gets overshadowed by its sequel (and not without reason) but my goodness, I will always love the original SML. Such a great little game

Funny timing, just saw the Game Boy anniversary come up too. Super Mario Land has such a different feel from the NES games, that weird Egypt/space theme always stuck with me. Still one of your favorite launch titles?

Got this when it came out in USA, or just shortly after. Game boy was revolutionary.

Even after 37 years my muscle memory knows where all the little bonuses and hidden secrets are.

Had it on release. The game is a masterpiece. The music is distinct from SMB1 but hits the same level of joy. Sound effects and button responsiveness are incredible. Thinks like the flower power dynamics being different and the airplane/water levels made this 10/10 a classic
