Surprise, surprise...... After all Mayor Brandon Johnson's talk about programs for "young people" — summer jobs, youth activities, safe spaces — two organizers of recurring teen mob actions admit the mayor's programs do not appeal to teens. Here is an idea: Let's arrest them for breaking the law.

The summer is a time for young people to enjoy the city, have new experiences, get a job or simply rest. It’s not a time for violence. I sat down with violence interrupters and young men directly impacted by gun violence to talk about what this administration is doing to keep New Yorkers safe. Real public safety means investing in people before tragedy strikes: summer jobs, mental health support, community programs, safe streets, and trusted messengers who grew up in our neighborhoods.

Listen to Mayor Brandon Johnson's answer to Kristen Welker's question on affordability in Chicago. Mind you, Johnson became mayor in May 2023, some 20 months — nearly two years — before Trump returned to the White House. When told prices have risen in Chicago 7 percent since Johnson became mayor, the mayor froze momentarily and immediately shifted to blame Trump's tariffs. A world-class pivot, Johnson then rambled on for another minute and a half about his throwing money at CPS schools, support for childcare workers, summer jobs programs, affordable housing, mentioned something about fresh water, a diverse economy...............whatever stuck to the wall. Even Welker was bored with his non-answer. The mayor of Chicago is a gargantuan moron.

Mayor Brandon Johnson was asked to his face about the teen mob takeovers in Chicago and when his administration will finally shift from “asking to compelling the participating youth and their adults to be accountable for those disturbances of the peace.” BRUTAL! This was asked in the context of Johnson’s horribly failed “defunded policing policy.” Johnson responded by basically saying he’s not going to do anything. He said, “I am calling on all parents, community leaders, business leaders to stand together to make sure that we are creating opportunities for young people and that if they step up outside the bounds of our expectations, that we hold them accountable.” In other words, he has no plan. He’s hoping the people of Chicago will just figure it out. What he should do is impose stricter curfews, increase police presence, and raise legal penalties for breaking curfew. But Johnson would rather appear woke than achieve results. That’s why these teen mob takeovers in Chicago continue. Great question and framing by the reporter. He deserves a raise. Young people in DC need support, not incarceration. For the past 12 years, I’ve supported thousands of kids with science experiments to get them interested in become pharmacists like me. Right now, kids are acting out and fighting at public spaces like the navy yard. Rather than finding ways to engage youth, The DC Council is looking to extend a juvenile curfew. I oppose extending the curfew because it’s not evidence based, it’s antagonizing and a waste in resources. Kids need programs, not over policing.
